Many accidents caused by electric shock
On May 16, Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center said that at the beginning of the rainy season, the unit continuously received many cases of electric shock accidents. Most of them come from subjectivity towards damaged electrical equipment, leaking electrical wires or humid environmental conditions...
On the afternoon of May 15, hotline 115 received an emergency call from a company in Tan Binh District, reporting that a female office worker (24 years old) was electrocuted unconscious due to using a broken, exposed phone charger, causing a power leak.
After determining the situation, the operator guided the caller to quickly disconnect the power, ensure safety, and at the same time guide the first aid of the victim by phone and urgently coordinate the emergency of Tam Anh General Hospital to go to the scene.
Thanks to timely treatment, after only about 2 minutes of first aid, the victim woke up and was out of danger. At 3:55 p.m., the emergency team approached the scene, recorded the stable condition and took the victim to Military Hospital 175 for further monitoring.

Another case was on May 12, when call center 115 received a report about a young man (24 years old) in Hoc Mon district being suspected of being electrocuted, causing unconsciousness.
The operator quickly reassured the caller, instructed on how to turn off the power and provide first aid, and coordinated with the Hoc Mon Satellite Emergency Station to the scene. However, when medical staff arrived, the victim had stopped breathing.
Despite receiving intensive care and being quickly transferred to Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, the victim still did not survive. It is known that the family discovered the victim unconscious next to a water pump, suspected to have used a water pump to flood the garden, leading to an electric shock.
How to reduce the risk of accidents during the rainy season
The Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center warns that the rainy season carries many potential accident risks. The most worrying of which are electrical accidents, flooding, and fallen trees. People need to be vigilant, proactively prevent to protect themselves and their families.
The most common risks include electrical short circuit due to leakage from unsafe equipment, ceilings, wet outdoor sockets; flooding that kills out electrical equipment, leading to the risk of fire or short circuit.
In addition, trees are uprooted or broken due to strong winds, endangering road users or causing power lines to break; traffic accidents due to slippery roads, poor visibility or sewer covers that pop up during heavy rain; lightning in open areas, especially dangerous for people holding metal objects, using phones outdoors or standing under trees.

To minimize the risk of accidents during the rainy season, people should absolutely not use electrical equipment when their hands are wet, the floor is damp or the area is flooded. turn off the switchboard oromat apt as soon as you discover a leak, water overflows into the socket, electrical equipment.
Avoid taking shelter from rain under trees, near electric poles, or where the power lines are tangled or broken. Proactively check and maintain the electrical system periodically, especially outdoor equipment such as pumps, fans, and garden lights. Limit going out during heavy rain, avoid going into deeply flooded roads or places where construction is underway.
Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center emphasizes not to let subjectivity be exchanged for life. Each citizen needs to raise awareness, proactively prevent and remind relatives to comply with safety principles during the rainy season so as not to regret that accidents can be completely prevented.
