On May 15, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province directed functional agencies to resolutely handle traffic safety violations to reduce the number of serious accidents.
According to statistics, in the first 4 months of 2025 alone, the whole province had 47 traffic accidents, killing 43 people and injuring 24 others.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents decreased by 9 cases, the number of injuries decreased by 23, but the number of deaths increased by 3 people.
Regarding the locality, Ngoc Hoi district recorded an increase in all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries. The other four districts including Dak To, Tu Mo Rong, Kon Plong and Sa Thay all increased in two criteria.
The main cause of traffic accidents is limited awareness of compliance with traffic safety laws.
