According to data from the National Tourism Administration, South Korea continues to be the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with more than 3 million arrivals, accounting for 26%. The trend of Vietnamese tourism is increasingly prominent in the land of kimchi.
Maekyung newspaper recently published an article titled "Thanks to Korea, Vietnam's tourism industry is booming", which listed the reasons why Koreans love Vietnam.
"Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are the top three destinations for Korean tourists spending in Vietnam. The amount of card payments by Koreans in Nha Trang, Da Lat and Phu Quoc increased by 90%, 150% and 160% respectively compared to the same period last year. It can be seen that Koreans stay in Vietnam for a long time and spend most of their time on vacation," the newspaper said.
According to Maekyung reporter Hong Jang-won, Korean tourists like Vietnam for many reasons. Firstly, Vietnam's infrastructure is increasingly developing, meeting the needs of tourists.
Second, tourists can spend a vacation at a relatively low price in major tourist destinations with beaches, such as Da Nang and Phu Quoc. In addition, airlines flying between Vietnam and Korea sell relatively cheap tickets. Due to competition between airlines, airfares are very reasonable.
The fact that Korean entertainment programs have Vietnamese tourism content also increases the audience's interest in provinces and cities such as Da Lat, Mui Ne, and Hoi An.
According to the Korean newspaper Travel Times, when surveying Koreans about the places they want to visit in Vietnam, 34% of the answers were "After coming to Vietnam, I want to visit other places".
That number shows that the rate of Korean tourists returning to Vietnam is quite high. Social media channels and entertainment shows account for 31% of the factors that make Koreans want to visit Vietnam.
Along with Nha Trang, the nearby city of Da Lat is also attracting Korean tourists.
"Da Lat is about 3 hours drive from Nha Trang. Unlike the tropical climate of Central and Southern Vietnam, Da Lat maintains a temperature of 14 to 23 degrees Celsius, mild all year round," quoted from the article of Travel Times.
