HUE - The nearly 500-year-old vermicelli making profession in Van Cu village (Hue city) has just been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Lang Van Cu (xa Huong Toan, thi xa Huong Tra) nam ben song Bo cach trung tam TP Hue khoang 10km, noi bat voi nghe lam bun truyen thong co lich su gan 500 nam.
Van Cu village (Huong Toan commune, Huong Tra town) is located on the Bo river about 10km from the center of Hue city, standing out for its traditional vermicelli making craft with a history of nearly 500 years.
Hien nay, lang co khoang 135 co so san xuat bun, cung cap ra thi truong o cac dia phuong. Moi ngay, lang san xuat khoang 30 tan bun, voi nhung soi bun trang, bong va khong co chat phu gia.
Currently, the village has about 135 noodle production facilities, supplying to the market in localities. Every day, the village produces about 30 tons of noodles, with white, shiny noodles and no additives.

The vermicelli production process in Van Cu is very special, using raw salt to soak, wash the rice and raise the flour, ensuring hygiene and preserving traditional flavors.

Ngay 19.2, tai thon Van Cu – Nam Thanh (xa Huong Toan – thi xa Huong Tra) da dien ra Le don nhan danh hieu Di san van hoa phi vat the Quoc gia “Nghe thu cong truyen thong - Nghe lam bun Van Cu”.
On February 19, in Van Cu - Nam Thanh village (Huong Toan commune - Huong Tra town), a ceremony was held to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage title "Traditional handicraft - Van Cu vermicelli making craft".

On this special day, the locality organized cultural and artistic activities to promote and preserve the value of this heritage on the occasion of receiving the certificate of recognition of Van Cu vermicelli making as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The festival also coincides with the Ba Bun Hy Day, Van Cu Bun Village Craft Group.

Previously, Van Cu vermicelli village was recognized as a traditional craft village in 2014. In October 2024, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a Decision to recognize "Van Cu Noodle making craft" as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
