According to information from the Department of Culture - Information - Tourism of Cat Hai district (Hai Phong), Cat Ba welcomed more than 30,000 visitors, of which about 20,000 were on the first day of the April 30 holiday on May 1. Most hotels, accommodation facilities, and cruise ships in the area have reached 100% capacity during the holiday.
The beaches in the tourist area are always crowded, especially in the afternoons. Recorded at Cat Co 1 beach, thousands of tourists had fun and swimmed in the afternoon of April 30.
Ms. Nguyen Vu Thuy Anh (Vinh Phuc) said: "The weather in Cat Ba is very beautiful, light rain in the morning, warm sunshine in the afternoon, suitable for families to go swimming. My family has planned a long time to stay in Cat Ba during this April 30 holiday and feel very satisfied."
On the first day of the holiday, Dong Bai ferry terminal transported more than 9,000 passengers with more than 3,300 vehicles, 3 times more than previous days. The Phu Long cable car route also carries more than 6,400 passengers.
On May 1, at ferry terminals and terminals, the number of passengers was still relatively large but there was no overload. This morning, due to weather, Dong Bai ferry terminal had to stop operating for about 30 minutes to ensure safety.
To prepare for the 5-day April 30 and May holiday, Hai Phong has 210 tourist boats serving tours of Cat Ba and Lan Ha bays, of which 68 boats have rooms. It is expected that during peak times, it can transport 45,000 visitors/day. The Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry route is operated by Waterway Traffic Assurance Joint Stock Company with 6 ferries, serving a maximum of 25,000 passengers and 3,500 cars/day.
The Gia Luan - Tuan Chau route is operated by Au Lac Quang Ninh Company with 3 ferries, transporting about 3,600 passengers/day. The Department of Construction directs transport business units to strictly comply with legal regulations on road and waterway traffic safety and order; enhance environmental sanitation, fire prevention and fighting, rescue; publicly post routes and directions.
For state management agencies, strengthen inspection of people and vehicles before departure, especially driving licenses, vehicle inspection; strictly handle violations, especially carrying more people than prescribed.
