The Shark Ham Building was built in 1991 and completed in 1993, located right at the beginning of Dinh Tien Hoang Street, opposite Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. The project was designed by the late architect Ta Xuan Van (1942 - 2020).
existing for decades, the building has become a place associated with the memories of many people and tourists in Hanoi.
Bringing a photo of Architect Ta Xuan Van to say goodbye to the building as the "brainchild" of his late father, Mr. Ta Xuan Tue could not help but be happy to meet and listen to many people share about the memories associated with the Ham Shark building.

For me, I have many memories of the Shark Mound project since I was a child, said Mr. Tue.
Remembering his childhood, Mr. Tue was often taken by his father to the Hoan Kiem Lake area to play. "My father and I often go to a very delicious pho stall near the Shark's reward restaurant, eating while watching the bustling space and lights of the building and the streets. Until now, my family and I still occasionally come here to eat and drink at the Shark's Nest," Mr. Tue recounted.
Talking happily to everyone in the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square area, Mr. Tue added: "Now I plan to ask the restaurants in the Shark Ham when they will stop operating to sit down and pay tribute to and save memories with my friends - those who are close to my family and this project".
Continuing Mr. Tue's story, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Dung, a resident who has lived near the Shark's Den for more than 70 years, said he was very lucky to be walking in the Shark's Den area when he met the son of the late architect who designed this project.
"Like many other people, my life has been attached to the Shark Dock area since before it was built until the day it was about to be dismantled. In front of my house, I often come here to have fun and celebrate birthdays. Hearing the news of the demolition is also very encouraging, but to bring a new, better space is also worth waiting for," said Mr. Dung.

It is expected that the demolition of the Shark's Den building will be completed before April 30. According to the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture, the Shark Ham building, after being demolished, will help connect the old town, Hoan Kiem Lake and some adjacent streets such as Dinh Liet, Cau Go, creating a transportation space. This will be a traffic square, serving the people.
Hanoi will have a square of 12,000m2. This is a space to serve the people and major festivals of the city as well as the country.
