Super typhoon Kong-rey made landfall, causing a series of flights in Taiwan (China) and the Philippines to be canceled, and some flights from Vietnam were also affected.

Super Typhoon Kong-rey has passed through the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), causing a series of flight delays and cancellations in the country in recent days. By the afternoon of October 31, the storm is forecast to move northwest through the waters of the northernmost part of Luzon until it makes landfall on the eastern coast of Taiwan (China).

Typhoon Kong-rey is predicted to be the largest storm to hit Taiwan (China) in the past 3 decades. On October 31, Taiwan (China) announced that public employees would be off work, schools and financial markets would be closed to avoid the storm. All flights connecting cities on the island and international flights were canceled.

In Vietnam, some flights were also changed due to the impact of super typhoon Kong-rey.

Due to the impact of typhoon Kong-rey, Vietnam Airlines has adjusted flight departure times to avoid the storm area for flights to and from Taoyuan International Airport (Taipei, Taiwan, China) as follows:

VN570 on October 31, Ho Chi Minh City - Taipei route adjusted departure schedule to November 1, same time.

VN571 on November 1st from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh City has adjusted its departure date to November 2nd at the same time.

VN586 on October 31, Hanoi - Kaohsiung route adjusted departure time to 4:15 am on November 1.

VN580 on October 31, Ho Chi Minh City - Kaohsiung route adjusted departure time to 02:25 on November 1.

The airline has adjusted its flight schedule to ensure flight safety in the context of the arrival of Typhoon Kong-rey, trying not to affect the take-off and landing times of flights. However, due to many airlines changing their routes to avoid the storm, air traffic congestion and congestion at the airport may occur, causing unexpected changes to flight times.

Meanwhile, Vietjet adjusted some flights to and from Taiwan (China) on October 31.

The airline temporarily suspended 8 flights:

VJ844, VJ845 route Phu Quoc - Taipei - Phu Quoc

VJ842, VJ843 route Ho Chi Minh City - Taipei - Ho Chi Minh City

VJ942, VJ943 route Hanoi - Taipei - Hanoi

VJ946, VJ947 route Hanoi - Kaohsiung - Hanoi

Several other flights were also affected.

Airlines recommend that passengers planning to travel to or from airports in areas affected by the storm during this time regularly monitor and update weather conditions and announcements from the airline to proactively plan their travel schedules.
