Some routes have reached over 90% to 100% booking rate, such as: Hanoi - Buon Ma Thuot (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Hue (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Buon Ma Thuot (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Quang Binh (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh (100%), Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai, Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City - Hue...
At the end of the holiday period (period from January 30, 2025 to February 7, 2025), the booking rate showed a high increase on flights from localities back to Ho Chi Minh City, in which, some days on the routes had a booking rate of reaching or approaching 100% such as: Pleiku - Ho Chi Minh City, Tuy Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon - Ho Chi Minh City, Chu Lai - Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Hoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Buon Ma Thuot - Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh - Ho Chi Minh City...
For the main routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Hanoi - Da Nang, Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, the occupancy rate in the period from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025 (ie December 26 to January 5 of the lunar calendar) is increasing rapidly, especially on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang routes. Some days near Tet, flights have a high occupancy rate of over 80%.
Ticket price survey data shows that during the Lunar New Year, before the holiday, airfares for many routes from Ho Chi Minh City to the provinces were listed at high prices by airlines, and many routes were even "sold out" in economy class.
Travel businesses believe that airfares for the Lunar New Year 2025 will remain high, increasing by 10% to 15% compared to the same period in 2024. Flights departing from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to famous tourist destinations will have significantly increased prices of about 1.7 - 2.6 million VND compared to the Lunar New Year 2024.
According to a survey by Lao Dong on January 6, on January 22, 2025 (ie December 23 of the lunar calendar), the routes of Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh, Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa or the main routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, the basic economy class ticket price ranges from 3.4-4 million VND (including taxes and fees). The most expensive ticket from Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi is up to 5.3 million VND.
Meanwhile, on January 25, 2025 (the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday), many flights such as Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City - Hue, Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh are all "sold out".
However, due to the high demand for travel home to celebrate Tet in the Northern provinces, airlines have had to operate many empty flights from the Northern and Central provinces back to Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the ticket prices in the opposite direction from provinces such as Buon Ma Thuot, Hue, Thanh Hoa, Pleiku, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai… to Ho Chi Minh City are showing a clear opposite price trend.
On January 22, 2025, January 25, 2025 and January 27, 2025 (December 28), on these routes, both Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air listed much lower prices, from only 90,000 VND (excluding taxes and fees).
Typically, for flights from Hai Phong, Vinh, Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietjet Air offers promotional fares starting from only 0 VND. Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines also offer attractive fares, starting from only 25,000 VND on flights from Da Nang, Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (prices do not include taxes and fees).
Unlike flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City, before Tet, on tourist flights such as Hanoi - Da Nang, Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Hanoi - Phu Quoc, the ticket prices for the outbound and return flights were recorded to have no significant difference, fluctuating from only nearly 1 to 3 million VND depending on the route.
However, on January 25, 2025, on some flights such as Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Hanoi - Phu Quoc... it is recorded that economy class tickets of some airlines are sold out.
After the holiday, when people started to return to work, ticket prices from the Northern and Central provinces to Ho Chi Minh City reversed.
On February 2, 2025, the end of the holiday, sold-out tickets were recorded on many routes from Buon Ma Thuot, Hue, Nha Trang, Thanh Hoa, Pleiku, Dong Hoi, Vinh, Chu Lai... to Ho Chi Minh City. Also on this day, on flights from tourist destinations such as Quy Nhon, Phu Quoc... to Hanoi, some airlines also sold out tickets.
On February 8, 2025, the first weekend after Tet holiday, ticket prices still showed a skewed trend, when flights from Ho Chi Minh City to airports such as Da Nang, Pleiku, Vinh, Noi Bai... were listed by airlines from only 0 VND, while in the opposite direction, ticket prices remained high.
