Ms. Luu Thoan (32 years old, Hanoi) and two friends had an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night trip in Hue. During the days that Ms. Thoan's group of friends stayed here, heavy rain kept falling. Hue City is submerged in water, floods cut off houses and roads.
On the evening of October 26, Ms. Thoan's group landed at Phu Bai airport. Because it was quite late, her group decided to order dinner at a bakery near the homestay and enjoy Hue sweet soup. After that, everyone returned home to rest overnight and focused all their excitement on planning to go out the next day.
She recalled: "That evening, each of us ate a very large cup of sweet soup for only 25,000 VND. Everyone has a plan to visit Hue and enjoy the ancient capital's cuisine tomorrow. Those who were wary of the flood the next day were everywhere, and all the shops were closed. We all have to eat instant noodles (laughs)".
On the morning of October 27, the group visited outside the gate of Hue Imperial City. This is also the day Hue had terrible heavy rain, with more than 800 mm. At this time, according to Ms. Thoan, the flood water had not yet risen, so the whole group still decided to visit Dai Noi.
"For the first time, the whole group will still try to go to Hue Imperial City to see with their own eyes the World Cultural Heritage, determined not to go home empty-handed (laughs). Before the trip, we checked the weather, knew it was raining but didn't think it would be so bad, flooding everywhere," said the female tourist.
After visiting the outside of Dai Noi, the group stayed in the rain at a nearby coffee shop to charge their phones because the area around the homestay was cut off at that time.

On October 28, the group left Hue as planned to return to Hanoi. From the homestay, the group hired a boat to transport to the Truong Tien bridge area because this was an area in a high position, not flooded with water.
Ms. Thoan shared: "We stopped at the bridge to find a taxi to take us to the airport. The group was struggling in the rain, when suddenly the boat driver told them to get to work in the fields, because he was driving the car while he was taking the boat to the airport. She asked to help us and he agreed to let us go because he was afraid that if he waited longer, the water would rise again, we would not be able to catch any taxis."
Ms. Thoan's group carelessly thanked the woman driving the boat, picked up the suitcase, got on the farm bus and moved to the airport. In the car, in addition to her group, another male tourist also asked a tractor to escape the flooded area.
The female tourist could not forget this interesting memory: "That tourist got off before arriving at the airport. Therefore, we thought we also needed to get down together, so we decided to take our suitcase and go down with them.
However, the driver enthusiastically said he would take us to the airport lobby. Hearing that, we looked at each other and kept laughing because it was the first time we took a bus to the airport."
Ms. Thoan expressed her gratitude to the Hue driver for helping the group get to the airport safely and return to Hanoi as planned. She also clearly remembered the feeling of wearing raincoats and riding a farm car to get to the airport.
"We mainly stand on the motorbike, our legs are too tired so we can sit. But I find it easy to get drunk because I am quite stressed. The distance to the airport is about 15km," she said.
The total trip to Hue this time for the group is 2 million VND/person. For Ms. Thoan's group, this is definitely a memorable memory. At the same time, the female tourist also hopes that the weather will be good again so that the lives of local people will soon stabilize.

According to the flood forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of October 29 to October 30, floods on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river will continue to rise and be 1.2-1.7m higher than BD3, 1.2-1.7m higher than the historic flood in 1964 (the historical limit at Cau Lau station is 5.48m); floods on the Tra Khuc river will continue to fall and remain below BD3.
The situation of deep and widespread flooding from Hue city to Quang Ngai province will continue in the next few days; there is a high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes of provinces from Hue to Quang Ngai.
Previously, Hoi An (Da Nang) evacuated 40,000 tourists from flooded areas.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center temporarily stops receiving visitors at all locations in the Hue Monuments Complex until the weather is stable and conditions are guaranteed.
The Hue Department of Tourism has requested tourism businesses to proactively respond and ensure absolute safety for tourists. Reservoir, coastal and landslide-prone areas and tourist attractions are inspected and facilities are reinforced.
