On the morning of August 26, after storm No. 5 weakened into a tropical depression in Laos, the circulation continued to cause widespread heavy rain in the North, in which Hanoi was severely affected.
From the night of August 25 to the morning of August 26, the rainfall in many places reached 150-200 mm, Hai Ba Trung district alone recorded a record of 315 mm.
A series of central streets were deeply flooded, even some streets were flooded along the motorbike saddle. Traffic congestion lasted for many hours.
Spanish female tourist Lorea had a surprising experience when she woke up this morning. The group needed to get to the bus meeting place to move to Ha Long, so Lorea was forced to leave.
She shared with Lao Dong: At first, I planned to travel entirely by motorbike. However, because of the heavy rain, I decided to take a taxi. The first driver refused to accept it because the point we went to was flooded. The second driver accepted but could not take us to the location because the rain had not yet receded. Finally, we took off our shoes and walked to the bus meeting place.
The rain had some impact on Lorea's plans but did not affect his travel plans. The female tourist arrived in Vietnam in early August and will return home at the end of this month.
This is her third day in Hanoi. Before that, when landing in Hanoi on August 24, Lorea and his friends quickly immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the second general parade and parade day. She did not forget the moments when each group of soldiers, weapons, and modern equipment walked on the streets amid the cheers of the Vietnamese people.
As for Alice Mason, a 37-year-old female tourist from the UK, she proactively stopped her plan to enjoy a different Hanoi as well as to ensure her safety. This is the first time Alice has come to Vietnam.
Today, I probably wont be able to do many things. This is the first time I have traveled abroad where I have been able to directly experience flooding like this," Alice expressed.
She said she was a bit worried. However, the Vietnamese people helped her a lot and "took hands to help those around her".
The female tourist added: "If the rain doesn't stop, I will look for a raincoat to go out. I love Hanoi, the people here are very kind. They have a spirit of solidarity that you can only truly understand when coming here and experiencing it yourself. It is wonderful to see their national pride, especially at this time.
She hopes the weather will improve in the coming days so that she can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 with the Vietnamese people.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the Northern region will continue to have heavy rain, posing a potential risk of urban flooding, flash floods and landslides. Tourists coming to Hanoi and the Northern provinces during these days should prepare appropriate raincoats and shoes, avoid going into deeply flooded areas or places with strong currents to ensure safety.
