The relics of the Buddha were invited from the Indian National Museum to Vietnam from 2.5 to May 21, the Vesak Ceremony of the United Nations 2025. This is the first time the Buddha has been invited to Vietnam, thanks to the close coordination between the Government of Vietnam, the Vietnam Buddhist Church, the Indian Government and international Buddhist organizations.
It is expected that about 3-4 million Buddhists will come to worship and seek protection at pagodas. According to the plan, the Buddha's grace will pass through 4 major pagodas in our country including Thanh Tam pagoda (HCMC), Ba Den pagoda (Tay Ninh), Quan Su pagoda (Hanoi) and Tam Chuc pagoda (Ha Nam).
Thanh Tam Pagoda
On May 2, the Buddha's protection was requested from New Delhi, India, by a C-130J-30 military aircraft, landing at Tan Son Nhat airport at 7:45. After the welcoming and charity ceremony, they were led to parade to the Vietnam Buddhist Academy and honored at Thanh Tam Pagoda.
The stele is displayed at the pagoda from May 3-8, allowing people to worship from 6am to 10am every day. On May 7, the pagoda will be open to Buddhists to worship until 24 hours and from 4am to 10am on May 8. The organizing committee does not collect fees, does not accept ceremonial gifts, requires people to keep order, and does not take photos.
Located in Hamlet 3, Le Minh Xuan Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Tam Pagoda, also known as Co Don Buddha Pagoda, was established in 2007. The pagoda is located in the campus of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy, campus 2, with solemn architecture and spacious space. The pagoda plays an important role in the formation of monkdoms and Buddhist research in Vietnam.
Ba Den Pagoda
At noon on May 8, the boats were dispatched from Thanh Tam Pagoda to Ba Den Pagoda, in the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area (Ninh Son, Tay Ninh). Buddhists will worship the Buddha's grace from 6pm on May 8 at Ba Den Mountain.
The rewards will be honored at the Buddhist Exhibition Center on the top of Ba Den Mountain from May 9-12, welcoming Buddhists to worship from 5am to 10am every day.
Ba Den Pagoda is located on the top of the mountain at an altitude of 900m above sea level. This is one of the most majestic and famous pagodas in Southern Vietnam. The pagoda was built in the 18th century, associated with the legend of Kinh Son The Holy Mother (Ba Den) - a figure worshiped for compassion, always protecting everyone.
The Linh Son Prime Minister Tien Thach Tu decorated the statue of Trung Ton meditating with the Buddha and Bo Tam such as Phat Thich Ca, Di Da Tam Ton, Ngoc Hoang, Bo Tat Dia Tang... On the top of Ba Den Mountain, there is a statue of Phat Di Lac made of the world's largest sandstone and a statue of Ba Tay Bo Da Son Buddha 72m high cast from 170 tons of red copper.
The pagoda is located in the Ba Den Mountain tourist area with a convenient cable car system, attracting millions of visitors to visit and worship every year.
Quan Su Pagoda
On the morning of May 13, the Buddha's protection was presented from Ba Den Pagoda to Hanoi and honored at Quan Su Pagoda (73 Quan Su Street, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi). The pagoda opens to visitors from all over to worship the Buddha's grace from 14-16.5, from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.
As one of the ancient pagodas in Hanoi, Quan Su pagoda was built in the 15th century, under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong. This place is currently the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, a center for organizing national Buddhist activities.
The pagoda has a traditional Northern style architecture, the main hall worships Buddha Shakyamuni. The pagoda campus is spacious, with a three-door gate, bell tower, green garden... The peaceful space attracts many people to worship, especially on holidays of the year.
Tam Chuc Pagoda
On the morning of May 17, Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ba Sao Town, Kim Bang, Ha Nam) offered a bowl of incense to the Buddha from Quan Su Pagoda to worship here from January 17 to October 15 to worship Ni, Buddhists, and tourists.
On the afternoon of May 21, at Tam Chuc pagoda, a ceremony will be held to bid a lucky visit to the Buddha, then the lucky visit will be taken to Noi Bai International Airport to return to India.
Built under the Dinh Dynasty in the 10th century, Tam Chuc Pagoda underwent a major renovation in 2016. This is one of the largest spiritual tourism areas in the world, with a total area of nearly 5,000 hectares. Tam Chuc Pagoda was also the venue for the 2019 Vesak Festival.
