Suddenly famous
Located in the middle of the sugarcane field of Ha Cang village (Quang Phu commune, Quang Dien district, Hue city), the ancient Vong Vong tree suddenly "famous after one night" when appearing in the eye -catching movie (2019) by director Victor Vu. The scene of the character Ngan sitting under the canopy of the guitar becomes a romantic symbol, making the tree quickly become a check-in.

Right after the film was released, thousands of tourists, especially young people, flocked here to take photos, camp and share images of "lonely" trees on social networks. Local people recount the peaceful countryside that suddenly became bustling, bustling with vehicles and tourists from all over.
With a wide, lush green canopy in the vast fields, the dong cotton plant has a rustic, peaceful beauty. Tourists not only come to this place to review their cinematic memories but also enjoy the rare quiet in Hue's countryside.
Seeing trees in real life even more beautiful in the film, the branches and leaves are sum Su, giving shade to the whole sky, said tourist Anh Tien from Ho Chi Minh City.

Not only a short-term tourist destination, the "lonely" tree also attracts photographers and backpackers to come back. Other filming locations such as Do Do Primary School and the tea shop in the film are also visited regularly, contributing to promoting local tourism.
From a "national" check-in point to a place of fear
The cinematic effect helps the "lonely tree" become a new symbol of community tourism in Quang Phu. However, tourism activities are still spontaneous and have not been properly invested. During peak days, the access road to the road is degraded, overgrown with weeds, lacking signs and accommodation for visitors.

After recording the number of tourists increased sharply, the local authorities invested in repairing roads, erected the promotional signs from the film, renovating the garden of Phu Thuan Cooperative (context of measured primary schools in the film), planting flowers, re -roofing pictures ... in order to create a tourist space associated with film memories.
However, by the end of 2020, the storms continuously caused the bronze tree to be broken, bare, and lost its original beauty. At the same time, the Covid-19 translation broke out, causing a serious decline in tourists. Although the tree has gradually recovered, green sprouts are rising, but the image of "lonely tree" is no longer like in the memory that makes many people disappointed.

"After natural disasters and epidemics, the image of the tree has changed a lot. Customers still come but not as crowded as before, said Mr. Tran Quang Hoanh - cultural officer of Quang Phu commune.
Although the locality has included this location in the annual tourism development plan and called on the private sector to open booths to serve tourists. However, the small number of visitors and instability make people hesitant to invest.
Currently, local authorities expect investors to pay attention to restoring famous landscapes of Mat Biec such as "lonely" trees and Do Do schools, connecting them to become typical community tourism destinations in the countryside of Hue.
The "lonely" tree is no longer too lonely. But to retain tourists, more than just check-in photos are needed, it is a long-term investment, linking culture - tourism - community.
