The free toilet pilot model " Free Restroom" was launched by the People's Committee of Truc Bach Ward in early March. Up to now, 24 households, restaurants, accommodation facilities and agencies of Truc Bach ward have volunteered to open toilets for road users and tourists to use for free.
Just by seeing a blue sign with the words " Free Restroom" and a smiley face icon, people and tourists can stop by to use the restroom for free.
In addition to Vietnamese customers, there are many foreign customers coming to Ms. Nga's restaurant. Therefore, she has encountered many cases of tourists being uncomfortable when they could not find public toilets on the road. Language barriers make communication with foreign tourists even more difficult.
According to Ms. Nga, in the spirit of the " Free Restroom" model, when seeing a blue sign with a smiley face icon, people can completely use the restroom for free without having to buy food, drinks or pay any fees.
This model has a specific identification to make it easier for more people to access, thereby bringing a good experience to people and tourists in Hanoi, Ms. Nga shared.
Coming to Mrs. Nga's restaurant to enjoy breakfast, Mr. Mike (an American tourist) said that the free toilet model is very useful.
"This meets the needs of tourists who like to walk and explore the landscape without having to look for restaurants to enter whenever they need to use a toilet. Combined with the factor of guaranteed quality, this free model really encourages tourism development, the male tourist shared.
As a Hanoian, hearing that some streets are implementing the " Free Free Free room and room" model, Ms. Pham Le Vy (22 years old, Hanoi) expressed: "This is a necessary model not only for tourists but also for Hanoians. If I was out looking for a free toilet, I could only go to the supermarket before.
Ms. Le Vy expressed her wish that this model will be deployed more widely, so that people and tourists when using it will be aware of keeping it clean.
Some streets piloting the free toilet model are currently available on Hang Than, Truc Bach, Ngu Xa streets. It is expected that before the holiday on September 30/5, 80% of other streets will implement " Free Restroom".
Truc Bach Ward also applied digital transformation, updating Free Restroom data to the portal, website and fanpage. People and tourists can find free restrooms on the platforms when needed.
