From today, July 1, 2025, 34 provinces and cities across the country will officially operate two-level local governments, including provincial and commune levels, after a trial period.
This change not only affects administrative boundaries but also directly affects information related to flights, especially the names of destinations and departures on tickets, electronic board and radio system at airports.
Passengers need to pay special attention to avoid confusion, interruption or missed trips.
List of airports with changed locations after July 1, 2025
Con Dao Airport: Previously belonged to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, now belongs to Ho Chi Minh City.
Chu Lai Airport: Previously belonged to Quang Nam province, now belongs to Da Nang city.
Tuy Hoa Airport: Previously in Phu Yen province, now in Dak Lak province.
Dong Hoi Airport: Previously in Quang Binh province, now in Quang Tri province.
Phu Cat Airport: Previously in Binh Dinh province, now in Gia Lai province.
Phu Quoc Airport: Previously in Kien Giang Province, now in An Giang Province.
Rach Gia Airport: Previously in Kien Giang Province, now in An Giang Province.
Before July 1, Kien Giang was the only province in Vietnam to own 2 airports. After the merger, the whole country now has 5 provinces and cities with 2 airports, including:
HCMC: Tan Son Nhat and Con Dao
City. Da Nang: Da Nang and Chu Lai International Airports
Gia Lai Province: Pleiku and Phu Cat
An Giang Province: Phu Quoc and Rach Gia
Dak Lak Province: Buon Ma Thuot and Tuy Hoa
To ensure no problems when completing procedures or traveling, passengers should carefully check the destination/going name on the air tickets. Pay special attention to monitoring notifications from electronic boards at airports, listening carefully to instructions from loudspeakers.
In case of questions, passengers should proactively ask staff at the check-in counter, exit of the plane or the support area for timely instructions.
