According to a source from the Spanish press, Al Nassr club has terminated the contract with coach Stefano Pioli - a strategist who signed a contract until 2027 with a salary of about 20 million euros per season.
Although the reason was not announced, the international media focused on the conflict between Mr. Pioli and Ronaldo. The situation became tense since mid-March, when Pioli replaced Ronaldo in the 3-1 win over Al‐Kholood. This action caused the Portuguese star to angrily throw him straight into the tunnel, signaling a rift in their relationship.
Ronaldo thought the head coach did not trust him. At the end of the season, Pioli even let Ronaldo sit on the bench for a few matches. This further escalated the tension.
In addition, according to international media, Ronaldo also requested the removal of many foreign players considered inappropriate, including goalkeeper Bento, defender Aymeric Laporte, midfielder Angelo Gabriel and striker Wesley. All have high transfer fees.
Previously, in April, there were rumors that Ronaldo would leave due to internal conflicts after his contract expired in June. However, the Portuguese superstar suddenly announced to stay and extend his contract.
Immediately after that, Al Nassr club decided to fire coach Pioli. Experts predict that this team will likely have to pay a large compensation fee to the Italian coach
Coach Stefano Pioli (59 years old), famous for leading Juventus and AC Milan, has not been able to bring home any championship to Al Nassr. Last season, Ronaldo and his teammates only finished in 3rd place in the Saudi Pro League, continuing to extend their failed streak in many arenas.
