Having secured their place in the next round, Song Lam Nghe An has made adjustments in personnel and tactics to preserve their strength in the match against Long An taking place on the afternoon of September 5.
Overall, the Nghe team still played better than Long An, but not as overwhelmingly as in previous matches. The first half of the match ended in a 0-0 draw and this was considered a favorable result for Long An.
In the second half, Long An rose strongly and created a big surprise. In the 54th minute, receiving a pass from his teammate from the left wing, Thien Nhan rushed in and scored a classy one-touch goal to open the score for Long An.
Conceding the goal, coach Nguyen Van Tien immediately made a substitution to salvage the situation. In the 80th minute, Van Tu broke through, eliminated a Long An defender before finishing the ball into the opponent's net to tie the score at 1-1. This draw was enough for Song Lam Nghe An to maintain the top spot in Group C.
In the remaining match of Group C, Thanh Hoa faced Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the match that decided the second place in the group. However, the Thanh team still made some old mistakes. They played well, not losing to their opponents, but often missed opportunities to gain an advantage.
Attacking without being able to score, Thanh Hoa had to pay a heavy price. In the 38th minute, Do Van Minh handled the ball and finished accurately to open the score for Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
In the second half, the mountain town team continued to maintain a solid game. They caused Thanh Hoa many difficulties. As for coach Do Trong Hai and his team, they needed a draw to be sure of advancing and the team's efforts were rewarded. In the 90+5 minute, Bui Thanh Binh scored the winning goal to tie the score 1-1 for Dong A Thanh Hoa.
