Putting workers at the center
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: In the first 6 months of 2026, city trade union levels have established 127 grassroots trade unions and admitted 5,766 new union members. Currently, Da Nang city has 1,843 grassroots trade unions and professional unions with 226,927 union members.
This is a noteworthy result in the context of a constantly fluctuating labor market, many small and medium-sized enterprises facing difficulties, and the labor force frequently shifting between production and business units.
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, the positive results achieved are thanks to the trade union levels having synchronously implemented many solutions, from propaganda and mobilization to innovating the content of activities and improving the quality of care for union members.
It is noteworthy that the current mindset of developing union members is no longer simply chasing after quantity. Instead, trade union levels focus on building practical values for workers to voluntarily participate and be attached to the organization for a long time.
In the context that workers are increasingly concerned about their rights, working environment and opportunities to be protected when facing difficulties, trade union organizations that want to develop sustainably must truly become a reliable support.
From the reality of operation in many localities, it shows that wherever the trade union does a good job of caring for and protecting the rights of workers, the development of union members is more favorable. Workers participate not because of mobilization or movement, but because they see specific benefits from the organization.
Trust is the foundation for sustainable development
One of the bright spots in Da Nang's current union member development work is Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union.
In just the first 6 months of 2026, the unit has developed 944 new union members, established 3 grassroots trade unions, and completed all assigned targets in the year. This result does not come from short-term propaganda campaigns but is a process of building long-term trust with businesses and workers.
Ms. Lam Thi Vy - Chairwoman of Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union said that right from the beginning of the year, the unit has developed a project to develop union members in the period 2026 - 2030, reviewed businesses in the area and assigned officials to approach each unit.
Instead of just introducing the functions and tasks of the trade union organization, the unit chooses to accompany businesses and employees with specific activities.
Many care programs have been implemented such as supporting union members in difficult circumstances, disbursing more than 1.23 billion VND of preferential loans for 41 cases, organizing health check-ups, policy advice on social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance.
According to Ms. Vy, workers today are very practical. They only participate in the organization when they feel their rights are protected, their voice is heard, and when they encounter difficulties, they have companions and support.
Therefore, trade union officials must regularly go to the grassroots level, be close to workers, grasp their thoughts and aspirations and promptly protect their legitimate rights and interests.
Another issue is that many small businesses do not fully understand the role of trade union organizations. To solve this, trade unions choose to propagate with practical effectiveness instead of theory.
When businesses realize that trade unions help build stable labor relations, limit disputes and create motivation for workers, they will proactively coordinate to establish grassroots trade unions.
Reality shows that developing union members is a process of building trust, affirming the representative role and bringing practical values to workers. When workers trust the trade union organization, they themselves will become the most active propagandists.
And when that belief is nurtured by specific actions every day, the Trade Union roof will continue to be expanded, becoming a solid support for more and more workers on the journey of making a living and development.
