On November 28, in Long Xuyen City, the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of An Giang Province took place. Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Nong Thi Ha; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council Le Van Nung; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van and 330 delegates attended. The congress's political report assessed that in the 2019-2024 period, An Giang province has promptly and effectively implemented ethnic policies. In particular, the three national target programs (sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction, socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas) and many other ethnic programs, projects and policies have been implemented by all levels and sectors, achieving many important results in the fields of economy, culture, education, health, employment, sustainable poverty reduction, etc.

The electricity, road, school and station systems in ethnic minority areas are guaranteed, helping people feel secure in working, producing and building a new life. In particular, the province pays special attention to the education and training sector. Up to now, the province has 3 ethnic boarding schools and 21 schools implementing ethnic language teaching programs.

In addition to applying free tuition for Cham and Khmer ethnic students, the province also supports ethnic students in purchasing health insurance, personal accident insurance, etc. These practical activities have contributed to raising the literacy rate among 15-year-olds to over 90%.

Excited about that achievement, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairwoman of the Ethnic Committee Nong Thi Ha affirmed: "Ethnic minorities in An Giang province have always received deep and comprehensive attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels.

Not only do they enjoy all the regimes and policies of the Party and the State, but they also receive the love, care and sharing of the entire army and people of the province. According to Ms. Ha, it is these timely concerns, encouragements and help that have motivated the people to constantly strive to overcome difficulties and rise up together with other ethnic groups in the province. Thereby, they contribute to building their villages and homelands, creating a new face for the province's ethnic minority areas.

Ms. Ha also highly appreciated the work of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation and the achievements in poverty reduction, economic development, and income increase through the creativity, diligence, hard work, and self-reliance of the people. Ms. Ha was especially impressed by the telling numbers: 6/8 cultural heritages were recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritages, cultural heritages of the Khmer and Cham ethnic groups...

However, in order for ethnic work to meet the needs of comprehensive and sustainable development in the new context, Ms. Ha suggested that Party committees and authorities continue to assess and clearly identify the potential and advantages of localities, identify specific tasks and solutions to promote ethnic work, and implement ethnic policies in conjunction with the goals and solutions in the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term to focus on effective implementation.

Speaking to receive that directive, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung suggested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, Fatherland Front Committees and socio-political organizations continue to identify and raise awareness and responsibility for ethnic work. Mr. Mung especially emphasized the factor of promoting the spirit of great national unity; strongly innovating the content and methods of propaganda and mobilization, especially for particularly difficult areas and ethnic minority areas, in order to strongly promote the heroic revolutionary historical tradition, the cultural identity of ethnic groups, arouse patriotism, the will to be self-reliant and the aspiration to rise up to build and develop the homeland and the country...
