In recent times, Gia Lai province has actively implemented a program to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, helping many poor and near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households, people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives have stable housing, adding motivation to rise up in life.
However, in reality, there are still some particularly difficult cases that have not been supported, such as victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and social protection beneficiaries.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the whole province currently has 985 households requesting support (653 newly built households, 332 repaired households), including 40 households victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and 945 households subject to social protection. The total estimated cost is more than 49 billion VND.
To further spread the humanistic meaning of the program, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with sectors and localities to review and agree on a list of eligible beneficiaries for support, and at the same time plan funding sources for implementation.
On that basis, advise and propose to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to report to the Provincial People's Committee before September; at the same time, develop a specific implementation plan, close to the actual situation.
The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Health and the Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with localities to inspect and determine cases of unable to build or repair houses themselves. The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee is recommended to coordinate with functional units to implement and ensure the practical effectiveness of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for particularly disadvantaged groups.
