On April 21, An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized a conference to summarize the work of selecting and calling citizens to enlist in the army, citizens to fulfill their obligations to participate in the People's Police in 2026; building reserve forces in 2025; national defense and security education in 2025, deploying directions and tasks for 2026.
In 2026, the work of selecting and calling citizens to enlist in the army, fulfilling the obligation to participate in the People's Police, was deployed synchronously, closely, in accordance with legal regulations, and effectively promoted the role of the entire political system. Localities have organized widespread propaganda, implemented a democratic, public, and fair military recruitment process, ensuring quality and assigned targets. The whole province has organized military assignment and reception at 9 locations, completing 100% of the targets, creating a vibrant atmosphere, spreading widely among the people. Military rear work has been concerned, and localities have mobilized support for military families and young people enlisting with an amount of over 6 billion VND.
Regarding the work of building reserve forces in 2025, the province has well implemented the registration, management, and arrangement of reserve soldiers, ensuring strictness and compliance with regulations. In the year, 4,005 soldiers were registered and arranged into reserve rank 1; organized training and mobilization readiness checks, reaching 99.47% of the target. Training, appointment, promotion, and payment of benefits to reserve forces were fully implemented, contributing to improving the overall quality of the force.
National defense and security education work in 2025 continues to be comprehensively and effectively implemented. National defense and security education councils at all levels are strengthened, operating more and more orderly. The whole province has organized 69 national defense and security knowledge training classes for all subjects with over 5,800 participants, reaching over 102% of the plan. National defense and security education in schools is maintained closely, with more than 126,000 students studying, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility in the task of protecting the Fatherland.
Speaking to direct at the conference, Major General Quach Van Nho, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, acknowledged and praised the results that An Giang province has achieved in military recruitment, building reserve forces and national defense and security education. At the same time, he requested that in the coming time, the province continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the provisions of law; improve the quality of military recruitment, ensure "recruiting one person for one person"; strictly manage the source of citizens of age ready to enlist; build a strong reserve force, ready to mobilize when situations arise; promote national defense and security education for all subjects, especially the young generation.
Concluding the conference, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that in 2026 and the following years, local national defense and military tasks set increasingly high requirements. Therefore, levels and sectors need to continue to promote the leadership and direction role, enhance the responsibility of heads; well implement all stages and steps in military recruitment work, ensure strictness and compliance with the law, complete 100% of targets with increasingly high quality. At the same time, strengthen management, build reserve forces, successfully complete training targets; promote propaganda and education on national defense and security widely among the entire people, contributing to building a people's national defense associated with a solid people's security posture right from the grassroots level.
