On April 3, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, An Giang Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with relevant units to organize the collection of DNA samples of relatives of unidentified martyrs in the province.
Participating in coordination are the Department of Police for Administrative Management of Social Order (Ministry of Public Security), the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Genestory Company. The activity aims to serve the work of building and completing the national DNA database, supporting the identification of martyrs who lack information, contributing to meeting the legitimate aspirations of relatives of martyrs' families.
An Giang province has 18 cases of relatives of martyrs whose identities have not been identified to be sampled in this phase. The sample collection process is scientifically and closely organized, ensuring the correct technical procedures, safety and accuracy, with direct guidance from experts in the field of DNA testing.
The collection of DNA samples from relatives of martyrs is a task of profound political, social and humane significance, expressing the gratitude of the Party, State and People's Public Security Forces to those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. This is also an important step in applying modern science and technology to the search, repatriation, and identification of martyrs' remains, contributing to easing the pain of war and bringing comfort to the relatives of martyrs' families.
In the coming time, An Giang Provincial Police will continue to closely coordinate with functional units to promote the collection and updating of DNA data, contributing to completing the population data system and effectively serving gratitude work in the area.
