Studious spirit
Arriving in the border area of Ba Chuc commune, An Giang province, we had the opportunity to visit Ba Chuc Secondary School and meet Ms. Le Thi Hong Nguyet, the school principal.
Sharing about her school, Ms. Nguyet said that students here have difficult family conditions, parents go to work far away, so they have to stay at home with grandparents. If there is a boarding school, it will be very convenient for them to study, eat, and live. "Many children are at risk of dropping out of school, the school has to coordinate with the local authorities to mobilize them," Ms. Nguyet confided.
Ms. Nguyet also shared that currently the school does not meet the requirement of teaching 2 sessions/day because the facilities are not guaranteed, and there is no time to further educate other activities for students.
Teachers are all very happy to hear the news of building boarding schools because it will help limit student dropouts. We also expect that when there is a new spacious school with full facilities, the quality of teaching will be improved. Students here are very studious, and the percentage of excellent students every year is very high," Ms. Nguyet said.
Mr. Vo Thanh Tuan - Chairman of Ba Chuc Commune People's Committee said that Khmer ethnic people account for more than 16%, of which 874/6,016 students are Khmer. Although it is a border school, it also ranks 3rd in An Giang province (old) in terms of graduation rate as well as universities.

Before, the commune had not implemented this boarding model, so some teachers may encounter difficulties, the commune will also propose to the province to support and train more teachers," Mr. Tuan said.
Building knowledge, connecting dreams
An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that the province identifies the investment in building inter-level boarding schools in land border communes according to Conclusion Notice No. 81 of the Politburo as a key, urgent political task with long-term strategic significance in socio-economic development, implementing ethnic policies, improving people's knowledge, training local human resources, creating a source of officials who are local people; and at the same time contributing to maintaining national defense and security in border areas.
In addition to constructing works, the province also proactively prepares and ensures conditions to put projects into operation immediately after completion of construction, before the new school year opening, including preparation for organizational structure, curriculum, operating expenses and other necessary conditions as prescribed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: The locality will continue to fully grasp the direction of the Central Government on investing in the construction of inter-level boarding schools in land border communes with the motto of implementation "urgent - drastic - sure - effective", ensuring the 6 clear principles.
We believe that each school project built in the border region of the Fatherland will truly become a school of faith, knowledge and the aspiration to rise up of children of border region compatriots," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Previously, on March 19, 2026, An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 3 inter-level boarding schools in Ba Chuc, Vinh Dieu, Vinh Xuong communes according to the policy of investing in building schools for border communes with a total estimated investment of more than 640 billion VND.
