After the merger, up to now, the socio-economic situation, political security, social order and safety in the border area of Khanh Binh commune (An Giang) are basically stable. However, on the border line, the situation of criminal activities, especially drug crimes, illegal entry and exit, smuggling... is complicated.
From the above situation, Khanh Binh Commune People's Committee in coordination with Long Binh Border Gate Border Guard Station has focused on directing and organizing the good implementation of 5 contents "All People's Border Defense Day" and Directive 01 of the Prime Minister "On organizing the movement of all people to participate in protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in the new situation".
Through propaganda work, the awareness of responsibility of the people in the task of building and protecting borders has been raised, well complying with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and border regulations. The political security and social order and safety situation in the border area has been maintained.
Mr. Ta Van Khuong, Chairman of Khanh Binh Commune People's Committee, said: "The locality has coordinated with the Border Guard Station to build effective operating models, which have been replicated such as: Self-management groups on border lines, national border markers, Women's Self-Management Groups on border lines, national border markers... Maintaining regular surveys, statistics and propaganda and mobilization. On that basis, organizing for collective representatives, households, and individuals to participate in signing and implementing the movement, including 3 Self-Management Groups on border lines, national border markers with 36 members, 11 Self-Management Groups on security and order with 78 members, 40 households, and 60 individuals".
In 2025, the forces and people of the commune proactively and regularly coordinate with the Border Guard Station to organize border protection patrols and protect the area. In which, the Border Guard Station has independently coordinated with the Police, Military, and Women's Border Protection Team to patrol the border.
Regarding drug crimes, arrested and handled 3 cases, 2 subjects, exhibits seized over 22 kg of drugs of all kinds. Regarding smuggling, trade fraud, independently and in coordination arrested 5 cases, 7 subjects, exhibits including: 300 kg of granulated sugar, 2 combine harvesters, 9.1 tons of corn, administrative violations fined more than 100 million VND. Arrested 81 cases, 117 subjects for illegal entry and exit, administrative violations fined more than 300 million VND...
It is forecasted that in 2026, there will be many potential complexities on the commune's border line, so the task of protecting border sovereignty and security, and fighting against all kinds of crimes will be very heavy.
Major Pham Van Be Em, Commander of Long Binh Border Guard Station, said: "The Station will closely coordinate with departments and forces to propagate and mobilize the masses, especially people in border areas, so that all people fully understand the position and importance of their responsibility to participate in building and protecting territorial sovereignty and border security. In addition, build a people's border defense posture, associated with building a solid people's national defense. Effectively fight against all kinds of crimes, push back social evils. Maintain the current state of the managed border; and at the same time build a border of peace and friendship, not allowing tensions to occur on the border.
Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Huu Hoa, Political Commissar of Long Binh Border Guard Station, added: "The Station will coordinate to implement target programs to ensure social security, build houses of great solidarity, comradeship houses, and shelters in border areas; health and education programs, gratitude activities. Participate in helping people stabilize production, prevent natural disasters and floods in border areas. Strengthen solidarity relations with Cambodian forces, authorities and people, effectively implement border guard foreign affairs, strengthen cooperation in border protection, fight against crime, and maintain political security stability, social order and safety on both sides of the border.
