Staying at the border
An Giang is a province that borders Cambodia, spanning many localities. The border terrain is complex, including dense rivers and canals, many trails and openings. This is not only a gateway to trade, but also a hotline that poses a potential risk of cross-border crimes such as smuggling, trade fraud and illegal entry and exit.
In that context, the task of the An Giang Border Guard is not only to patrol and protect border areas and border markers, but also to shoulder many responsibilities related to security and order. From border gate management, immigration control to crime prevention.
Lieutenant Colonel Ha Thai Ngoc Chau - Political Commissar of Phu Huu Border Guard Station (An Giang Provincial Border Guard) - shared: "We clearly understand that each meter of border is not only a national boundary, but also a trust and peace of the people. Therefore, no matter how difficult it is, we are determined to fight to prevent all activities that violate security and order.

" Patrol sessions, sneaking through small trails, crossing rivers and canals, secretly discussing with local people to grasp the developments in the area... are the daily work of the border guards.
One of the biggest challenges that the force faces is the trails and openings through the fields and canals to go deep into the inland area. Therefore, the work of reviewing and marking the area and identifying key points to arrange patrol forces is a regular task," said Lieutenant Colonel Ha Thai Ngoc Chau.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ha Thai Ngoc Chau, from the beginning of 2025 to now, Phu Huu Border Guard Station has arrested 4 cases, 10 subjects and has handled administrative violations with a total amount of more than 49 million VND. In particular, 1 case was prosecuted, with 3 subjects for illegal entrance and exit, the case has been transferred to the police for handling according to the law.
Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Huu Hoa - Political Commissar of Long Binh Border Guard Station (An Giang Provincial Border Guard) - said: "We use synchronous measures such as combining mobile and fixed patrols, arranging remote monitoring posts, coordinating with local police and militia to grasp information and promptly handle violations. With the smooth coordination between forces, it not only helps to promptly detect and prevent illegal smuggling and transportation activities."
Strengthening the people's security posture
One of the factors that helps the Border Guard in An Giang complete its tasks is its close relationship with local people. They are not only border guards but also friends and companions of the community.
As a resident living near the border area, Mr. Ho Van Ngon (residing in Phu Huu commune, An Giang province) shared: "The Border Guard is like a family member, always close, caring and helping us in all circumstances. Thanks to them, we feel more secure living on the border.

Lieutenant Colonel Ha Thai Ngoc Chau emphasized: "We determined to be proactive, flexible, and increase the application of technology in border management and patrolling; at the same time, continue to build a solid people's security posture, unite the army and people, and promote the combined strength to firmly protect national sovereignty and border security."
