According to the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, in 2025, the border and sea area situation still has potential complications with the activities of illegal criminals and immigrants.
The Border Guard has organized and coordinated with the police and military to patrol and protect the area with thousands of officers and soldiers participating. The units have fought against drug crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods in border areas, sea areas, islands, and border gates. As a result, independently and jointly arrested and handled 422 cases and 1,144 subjects. Of which, drug criminals had 13 cases/17 subjects; successfully fought 2 special cases, the evidence seized was about more than 22.6 kg of various drugs.
Arrested and handled 83 cases/79 subjects of smuggling and trade fraud; arrested 3 cases/4 subjects of buying, selling, transporting, storing, using weapons, explosives, and firecrackers. In which, the large-scale successful investigation resulted in the seizure of nearly 446 kg of firecrackers. Arrested and received 255 cases/854 subjects illegally entering and exiting the country...

Colonel Pham Van Thang - Commander of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command - said that implementing the peak of the fight against crime prevention, control of drugs, control of human trafficking, combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo in 2026, the force deployed very seriously and resolutely.
The force focused on investigating, detecting and fighting to destroy criminal networks and organizations, determined not to let "hot spots" or complications in security and order occur. Raising vigilance, ensuring absolute safety for operations, people, vehicles, weapons, and equipment during the performance of tasks.
Grasp and correctly assess the situation of criminal activities in the internal, external, at sea and on islands. Build and consolidate a sufficient number of secret forces, ensuring the quality of guided routes, areas, and subjects to focus on fighting. Maintain, replicate and improve the effectiveness of hotlines and police reporting bribes in key areas and areas to receive information, promptly detect criminal activities, and proactively prevent and combat.
Increase patrols and strictly control borders, sea areas, and islands, focusing on key routes, areas, and areas. Closely combine regular activities with sudden, ambushed, blocking areas, areas, and key times, promptly detecting and preventing criminal activities.
In the sea area, the Southwest island, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command is assigned to manage and maintain law enforcement in the sea area of about 150,000 km2, from the northern gate of Dinh An (Vinh Long province) to Ha Tien Cape (An Giang province) which is an area with a particularly important strategic position for national defense, security, economy and foreign affairs.

Major General Nguyen Van Dung - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Region Command - said: "The Party Committee and Command of Coast Guard Region 4 always determine that the entire unit must unite, maintain a strong ideological position, and create motivation for officers and soldiers to successfully complete their tasks in all conditions".
Based on closely following the situation, the Regional Command has proactively coordinated with the Navy, Border Guard, Fisheries Control and functional forces to organize many general patrols.
On the Southwest coast, drug crimes, smuggling, transporting prohibited goods, trade fraud... are very complicated. The Regional Command determined not to be lenient with any violations, resolutely fight and strictly handle them in accordance with the law. Many important projects have been effectively implemented, with hundreds of cases related to the activities of foreign ships, smuggling acts, and trade fraud being detected and handled promptly. The fines for violations and the sale of confiscated assets to the State budget alone reached over 33 billion VND, contributing to maintaining order at sea, protecting fishermen and the livelihood environment.
In the coming time, especially at the peak, the force will continue to strictly maintain combat readiness regimes; promote and improve training quality; focus on effectively implementing the fight against crimes and violations at sea.
