On March 17, the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command of Dong Thap province organized a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment (March 17, 1976 – March 17, 2026). Major General Tran Ngoc Huu - Deputy Commander of the Border Guard; Major General Quach Van Nho - Deputy Commander of Military Region 9; Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province; Mr. Pham Van Chuan - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; former leaders of Dong Thap province through periods; leaders of departments, agencies, branches of the province and officers and soldiers of the Border Guard (BGB) of Dong Thap province attended.
Colonel Nguyen Van Minh - Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command - recalled the glorious tradition of the unit. After 50 years of establishment and development, with the spirit of "The station is home, the border is homeland", officers and soldiers of the Red Lotus Border Guard have constantly strived to overcome the difficulties and hardships of the top-water area of the Mekong River full of sunshine and wind, which are terrible floods. Especially the fierce fighting periods... From there, gradually rising up and becoming stronger in all aspects.
“The close attention of the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the support of the people have added spiritual strength for the Provincial Border Guard to build a strong political force, steadfast in ideology and organization” - Colonel Minh emphasized. Thanks to that, the Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard not only excellently completed the task of protecting sovereignty and border security, but also did well in foreign and domestic affairs, becoming a reliable companion of the people in the border area and contributing to tightening national friendship relations.
Prominent are humane models: "Raising children to school - Foster children of Border Guard stations", "Soldiers' warm houses in border areas", "Gratitude rice pots" have helped thousands of people in difficult circumstances. With the effective maintenance of combined Military - Civilian Clinics, organizing "Border Schools"; implementing strategic projects such as "Lighting up the border line", "Border Bamboo hedges"... have contributed to protecting people's health, contributing to the locality to change the face of the border area. With these achievements, Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard Command has been commended with many noble awards: 1 Third-class Military Service Order; 4 Military Exploit Orders of various types.
In particular, Thuong Phuoc International Border Gate Border Guard Station (formerly Cau Van Station) was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces twice. Especially in the term 2020 - 2025, the unit received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and many Emulation Flags from the Ministry of National Defense and the Border Guard Command.
On this occasion, the Minister of National Defense sent a Letter of Commendation to officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of Dong Thap province on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Border Guard; 20 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province for their many contributions to building and developing the Border Guard of Dong Thap province.
