Dak Lak - Buon Don commune focuses on training a team of doctors and medical staff who are good at their profession and have good skills, to serve the people's health care.

The role of the grassroots health care team

Buon Don is the border commune of Dak Lak province with the largest natural area in the country with an area of 1,113.79km2.

Buon Don commune has a large ethnic minority, large area, many villages and hamlets far from the center. While the demand for health care is increasing, the medical force is still thin.

The Commune Health Station currently has 7 officers and employees. Of which, 5 people are ethnic minorities with high professional qualifications, creating great convenience for medical examination and treatment for people in remote areas. In addition, the commune also has 8 medical collaborators and 9 population collaborators spread across villages and hamlets.

Mr. Y Nham Nie - Head of the Buon Don Commune Health Station - said: "Health and population collaborators play an active role in collecting information, closely following the facility, helping the unit closely monitor the health status of the people and effectively implement timely medical examination and treatment".

Thanks to the efforts of the station's staff, the health care of the people has achieved many positive results.

The brothers did not hesitate to face difficulties, going to remote villages and hamlets to examine and treat women, children and the elderly. Thanks to that, many people feel secure in working, producing and improving their lives.

The collaborators are also a bridge, supporting the station in implementing training, communication, and spreading national policies, guidelines and target programs to the people. Information and data are supplemented and updated promptly, Mr. Y Nham added.

Developing the next generation

In fact, in the current context, if the force is not prepared early, health stations will face difficulties as health programs are increasingly expanding.

successor cadres not only need to be good at their profession but also have an understanding of village culture, know how to speak ethnic languages and be responsible for the people.

Mr. Le Thanh Son - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Don commune - commented that to ensure the health care of people in a synchronous and continuous manner, the quality of human resources and facilities at the health station plays an important role.

"In recent years, the commune has applied science and technology, gradually digitizing patient records data, upgrading facilities, promptly meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of the people", Mr. Le Thanh Son - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Don commune added.

Mr. Son also emphasized that in the coming time, health stations need to continue to focus on training communication skills on health and nutrition for staff and employees.

This is a very important factor in ethnic minority areas. Young staff need to learn how to guide, talk, approach households and mobilize people to change their living habits as well as take care of their health and nutrition.
