On the evening of August 5, in Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang Province, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command held a launching ceremony for the fierce peak emulation campaign to prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The emulation period took place from August 5 to September 2 with the theme "Enhancing the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, cooperation, determinedly fighting against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing".
Through the Emulation Campaign, it aims to encourage and motivate all officers and soldiers to be united, dynamic, creative, overcome difficulties, and be determined to effectively fight against crimes and IUU fishing violations. Contributing with all levels, sectors, forces, Party committees, and local authorities with seas in the area to do a good job of serving the EC Inspection Team to work in Vietnam for the 5th time, towards removing the IUU "Y yellow card". Implement well the protection and regeneration and sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources.
With the highest political determination, the Party Committee and the Head of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command launched a campaign for officers and soldiers of the entire unit to focus on competing to effectively implement the contents and emulation targets. Specifically: thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives of all levels on combating IUU fishing, focusing on Official Dispatch No. 122 dated July 25, 2025 of the Prime Minister, raising awareness and responsibility for officers and soldiers, identifying combating IUU fishing as a key political task.
Strictly maintain a duty system at all levels, increase 24/24-hour observation, detect, monitor and supervise 100% of fishing vessels operating in the sea area bordering Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. Innovation in content, form, and methods of propaganda against IUU fishing; drastically deploy plans and measures for patrolling and controlling on the field, determined to prevent, stop, and not allow Vietnamese fishing vessels to operate in foreign waters. Ensure adequate and quality logistics, technical and financial work for the implementation of tasks; promptly commend and reward collectives and individuals with good achievements...

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff, Head of the Steering Committee of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command on IUU, emphasized: "The peak emulation period is an activity of practical and urgent significance, demonstrating the strong and decisive action spirit of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command in response to the urgent requirements of the task of combating IUU fishing, contributing to the whole country in early removal of the "Golden Card" of the European Commission. Therefore, it is required that Party committees and commanders at all levels clearly recognize their roles and responsibilities associated with the specific functions and tasks of each agency and unit, determined to act decisively and effectively to excellently complete the contents and targets of the Emulation Round".
At the launching ceremony, representatives of agencies and units signed emulation agreements, expressing the highest determination in implementing the task of combating IUU fishing.
