On the occasion of Vu Lan Anniversary Ceremony 2025, Thien Phuoc Pagoda (Tra On Commune) coordinated with local authorities to present 500 gifts to the poor and people in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances in Tra On Commune, Vinh Xuan Commune, Vinh Long Province.
Each gift is worth 450,000 VND, including 10 kg of rice, 1 box of noodles and 200,000 VND in cash, bringing joy and warmth to the people.
Along with that, monk Thich Nu Duc Quang - abbot of Thien Phuoc Pagoda also connected with Buddhists and donated 10 bicycles, 300 scholarships (each from 1020 notebooks and 1 million VND in cash depending on the school level) to poor and studious students in Tra On and Vinh Xuan communes (Vinh Long) and a school in Soc Trang province.
The funding is taken from the Binh Minh - Thien Phuoc Scholarship Fund, contributing to spreading love and supporting students to enter the new school year.
The total budget for this gift-giving, scholarship and bicycle giving activity is nearly 600 million VND, contributed by Ninh Nu Duc Quang, a Buddhist convert and a benefactor at home and abroad.
This is an annual activity that Thien Phuoc Pagoda has maintained for many years, contributing to sharing difficulties with poor people and supporting studious students. Thereby, spreading the spirit of compassion, kindness and the good traditions of Buddhism, building a connected and humane community.
Representative of the local government, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy - Vice Chairman of Tra On Commune People's Committee said that this is a meaningful activity, promptly supporting poor people and supporting studious students.
"The locality really appreciates and hopes to continue to receive the support of Thien Phuoc Pagoda, venerable Buddhists and donors in the coming time, contributing to taking care of poor students who are studious and implementing social security well," Ms. Thuy added.
