At about 7 am on June 30, Pha Long Commune Police, Lao Cai province received a report about soil and rocks from the positive slope sliding down National Highway 4D, passing through Din Chin village, causing traffic obstruction and potential safety risks for people and vehicles.
Immediately after arriving at the scene, the commune police force conducted a survey and at the same time deployed a remedial plan.
Four commune police officers and soldiers and 3 members of the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level and 2 households were mobilized to collect about 10m3 of landslide soil and rocks on a road section about 30m long.
After a short time, the road surface was cleared, and traffic returned to normal. Functional forces also stretched warning ropes, guiding people and vehicles to travel safely through landslide-prone areas.
Timely handling contributes to ensuring smooth traffic and limiting the risk of accidents in prolonged heavy rain conditions.
In the coming time, Pha Long Commune Police will continue to inspect roads at risk of landslides, proactively detect, coordinate to handle arising incidents and implement measures to ensure traffic order and safety.
The Police force recommends that people when traveling on mountainous roads need to reduce speed, pay attention to observation, comply with traffic signs and instructions from functional forces; do not stop or park vehicles in landslide-prone areas.
When landslides, fallen trees or situations causing traffic unsafety are detected, people need to promptly notify functional agencies for handling and ensuring community safety.
