The number of dengue fever cases in Dong Thap in week 31 of 2026 decreased by 47.3%, but the risk of the epidemic increasing again is still present when entering the rainy season.

According to the Dong Thap Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC), the number of Dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in the area in week 31 of 2026 decreased by 47.3% compared to the 4-week average.

This result shows that the activities of monitoring, killing larvae and treating outbreaks in the past time have initially been effective. However, the Dong Thap Provincial CDC assessed that the number of cases accumulated from the beginning of the year is still higher than the 5-year average at some times.

Meanwhile, the weather enters the rainy season with heavy rainfall, creating favorable conditions for tick mosquitoes to breed and develop. The risk of the number of cases increasing again is still high, especially in localities with many larvae breeding grounds, high insect index and environmental sanitation that has not been thoroughly handled.

Faced with the above situation, Dong Thap Provincial CDC continues to strengthen epidemiological surveillance, early detection of suspected cases of disease in the community and medical facilities to cordon off and handle outbreaks promptly and thoroughly.

The health sector promotes campaigns to kill larvae, general environmental sanitation, clean up water containers at risk; and at the same time strengthen communication to make people clearly aware of the risk of dengue fever and not be subjective.

Mr. Vo Thanh Nhon - Director of Dong Thap Provincial CDC - recommends that each household regularly cover jars and bamboo tubes; wash weekly water containers and release fish to kill larvae. People need to clean up waste that can accumulate water around the house, turn over unused items; maintain the habit of sleeping under mosquito nets all day and wear long-sleeved clothes to avoid mosquito bites.

When there are symptoms of sudden, continuous high fever, people need to go to the nearest medical facility immediately for examination and timely treatment; do not arbitrarily buy medicine for treatment at home to avoid dangerous complications.
