Gia Lai implements an investment plan of 288 billion VND to upgrade 24 commune health stations in border areas, especially difficult areas, and improve health care for people.

According to VNA, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich said that the province is implementing a comprehensive investment plan for the grassroots health system in border communes and particularly difficult areas to improve the capacity of people's health care, reduce the burden on upper levels and ensure social security.

The plan aims to concretize Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

Accordingly, Gia Lai prioritizes investing in upgrading, expanding or synchronously building 24 commune health stations in border areas and particularly difficult areas. Items include administrative blocks, medical examination and treatment blocks, technical and professional areas such as X-rays, ultrasound, tests, first aid and medical wastewater treatment systems.

The province also supplemented 24 types of essential medical equipment such as patient monitoring monitors, pacemakers, digital X-ray machines, general ultrasound machines and hematology and biochemical testing systems.

The total estimated cost is about 288 billion VND, of which 216 billion VND is for infrastructure and 72 billion VND for purchasing medical equipment. Gia Lai also requested to review and supplement investment for Ia Lau Commune Health Station and consider adjusting it in Hra commune to suit actual needs.

In addition to investing in facilities, the province is developing policies to attract and treat doctors and pharmacists working at public health facilities, especially in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas and border areas. The policy aims to solve the shortage of high-quality human resources at the grassroots health level, while retaining the team of doctors and physicians for a long time in the locality.

Gia Lai province also plans to implement a program of free periodic health check-ups for people in 12 border and particularly difficult communes such as Ia Dom, Ia Nan, Ia Mo, Krong, Nhon Chau... Priority groups include ethnic minorities, the poor, the elderly, children under 6 years old and women of reproductive age.

Health check-up activities are associated with health care counseling, early detection of diseases and building electronic health records for people. The implementation cost is about 15.18 billion VND from the state budget and other legal mobilized sources.

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to complete the project and report proposals in May 2026 to soon implement policies in practice.
