On the afternoon of June 13, a large number of monks, nuns and Buddhists in the city gathered at Le Thi Rieng Park to solemnly attend the ceremony of reciting the Tibetan Sutra, opening the Commemoration Ceremony and the miraculous spirits of heroic martyrs and patriotic compatriots who sacrificed.
The memorial ceremony was organized by the Standing Committee of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) HCMC on the spirit of promoting the thousand-year tradition of "national protection and people's peace" of Vietnamese Buddhism. This is also a meaningful and practical activity towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026).
The memorial ceremony recorded the participation of thousands of monks, nuns, and Buddhists. In the solemn and sacred atmosphere at Le Thi Rieng Park - the land that was once the ancient Do Thanh Cemetery, chanting sutras rang out, sending full gratitude and compassion to the spirits who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Continuing today's afternoon ceremony, the official memorial and supernatural rituals will be held tomorrow (June 14, 2026), on the 29th of the 4th year of Binh Ngo. Specifically, at 9 am, the memorial ceremony for the souls of martyrs and patriotic compatriots who sacrificed will take place. At 1:30 pm on the same day, the super advanced ritual tray dan will be held by Venerable Thich Le Trang - Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of GHPGVN, Head of the Central Ritual Committee of GHPGVN, Head of the Executive Committee of GHPGVN HCMC.
This extraordinary event carries a particularly profound meaning in the context that functional agencies are making efforts to repatriate martyrs' remains in the Le Thi Rieng Park area. For about half a month, from historical documentary photos of mass graves in the Mau Than Campaign (1968), the Ho Chi Minh City Command issued a notice to search for witnesses. Immediately after that, many long-time residents and historical witnesses spoke up to provide information.
