On April 15, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision recognizing An Minh district to meet the new rural district standard (NTM) in 2023.
At the announcement ceremony, Mr. Tran Nhat Lam - Deputy Chief of the Central NTM Coordination Office announced the Decision No. 670/QD -TTg, March 26, 2025 of the Prime Minister on recognizing An Minh district to reach the NTM district standard in 2023.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, in 2011, when embarking on the implementation of the national target program to build NTM, An Minh has a low starting point, infrastructure is still lacking compared to the requirements of the criteria; agricultural production faces many difficulties; The average income per capita is only 21.83 million/year; The rate of poor households is high, accounting for 12.99%.
An Minh is a key district on agricultural development and aquaculture, so the Party Committee and the government are always deeply aware of the position and importance of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in the process of directing and operating socio -economic development.
The Executive Committee of An Minh District Party Committee has issued a Resolution on building new rural areas in the area with specific tasks and solutions, focusing on directing and mobilizing resources to improve the quality of criteria and determination to change the appearance of the countryside.
In the period of 2011-2023, An Minh balanced the central and provincial budget capital, integrated with capital sources of target programs, credit and enterprises, especially capital mobilizing people with a total budget of VND 1,970 billion. An Minh district has 10/10 communes meeting NTM standards, 5/10 communes achieving advanced NTM, the district completed 9/9 criteria of NTM district.
After more than 10 years of building new rural areas, up to now, the appearance of An Minh district has had many significant changes, good economic growth, economic structure has shifted in the right direction; production developed, per capita income reached 67 million VND/person/year; The percentage of multi -dimensional poor households decreased to 2.39%; Facilities and equipment of district health centers and commune health stations are interested in construction investment, district health centers meet class III standards; Inter -communal power system and electricity systems have been invested and upgraded. The whole district has 59 cooperatives, many cooperatives operate effectively, many models bring income to people; The percentage of households with housing meets the standard as prescribed by nearly 26,000 households, reaching the rate of over 86%; The political system is regularly strengthened, consolidated, meeting the requirements of political tasks in the new situation ...
On behalf of Kien Giang province, Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee congratulated, praised and appreciated the persistent efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the diligence and creativity of the An Minh people in building NTM over the past time. At the same time, it is suggested that the Party Committee, authorities and people of An Minh district focus on renovating the growth model, strongly transforming, exploiting the most potentials and comparative advantages to create new growth drivers; Promote the application of digital technology, mechanization, automation and production to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of An Minh farmers in the market; Developing eco -tourism and community culture, taking advantage of the natural landscape combined with traditional craft villages to attract tourists.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in contributing funds to implement the emulation movement to build NTM period 2021-2025.
