On July 20, Hoa Hiep Commune People's Committee (HCMC) said that it is coordinating with functional units to organize exploration and search for a place capable of burial of martyrs' remains related to K76A Hospital in the area.
According to documents, K76A Hospital (under Military Region 7, located in Hoa Hiep commune) was established around 1965, located in 3 areas in the jungle, with the task of treating wounded and sick soldiers and providing medical supplies for other treatment units such as K10 Hospital, Military Medical Company 24. Due to being located in a fierce battlefield, many officers, soldiers, and wounded soldiers have sacrificed themselves during combat and treatment here.
Implementing the "Operation of 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", from July 18, local authorities have coordinated with specialized agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City Command to organize initial searches in areas suspected of having martyrs' remains in the area.
Mr. Nguyen Ky Nhan - Chairman of Hoa Hiep Commune People's Committee - said that in 1996, 2 sets of martyrs' remains were found here. Therefore, functional agencies organized a survey to expand the search, but the survey implementation in recent days has not detected any new information.
In order for the search and repatriation work to achieve positive results and quickly bring the heroic martyrs back to their motherland, comrades and families, Hoa Hiep Commune People's Committee respectfully calls on people who know information related to Hospital K76A or the burial place of the martyrs... to contact and provide more information to the local authorities.
At the same time, calling on those who participated in combat, served or had relatives who were attached to Hospital K76A if they still keep memories, documents (charts, letters, diaries, traces) or have heard stories... to participate in providing to help clarify information, help accurately determine the burial location, bring heroic martyrs back to their homeland, families and comrades; expressing the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" of the Vietnamese nation.
