Da Nang - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City has just conducted a field survey to assess the effectiveness of models to change "thinking styles and ways of doing things" in ethnic minority areas.

The purpose of the survey trip is also to review the investment needs of people's bridges to serve people's lives.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, the working groups conducted surveys in 11 mountainous communes in the city, focusing on recording the current situation, collecting data and evaluating the effectiveness of economic development models as well as the need for investment in essential transport infrastructure.

Regarding the content of changing "thinking styles and ways of doing things", the survey team surveyed 6 communes including Tra Tan, Tra Linh, Thanh My, Dong Giang, Tay Giang and Ben Hien. The survey showed that many production models have brought clear economic efficiency, contributing to increasing people's incomes.

In the field of animal husbandry, Mr. Dinh Van Hoang's concentrated black pig farming model (Tra Tan commune) achieves a profit of more than 150 million VND per year. In Ben Hien commune, Mr. A Lang Le's household has developed the pig herd from 12 to more than 100 - 200 pigs per year. Some households in Dong Giang commune boldly invest in models of raising bamboo rats and star deer in the direction of farms, applying biological cushions, gradually changing small-scale, spontaneous farming habits.

In the field of pharmaceuticals, the model of growing Gynostemma pentaphyllum in Tra Linh and developing ba Kich trees in Dong Giang, Tay Giang has shifted from the form of selling raw materials to deep processing into value-added products such as medicinal liquor, dried products, helping to increase product value many times over. Meanwhile, community tourism models in Thanh My and exploiting the traditional culture "Tang tung da da" in Tay Giang are contributing to creating new livelihoods and promoting national cultural identity to tourists.

In parallel with surveying the economic model, the working group also surveyed the current status of people's bridges in Dong Giang, Tay Giang, Tra Van, Phuoc Nang and Hung Son communes. Many areas are still divided by rivers and streams, dangerous terrain, especially in the rainy and flood season, affecting people's travel, study and production.

Through the survey, functional agencies will have more basis to evaluate and replicate effective models, and at the same time determine the need for essential infrastructure investment, mobilize socialized resources to build civil bridges, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction and improving the quality of life for ethnic minorities in mountainous areas.
