As Tet Doan Ngo is approaching, the demand for traditional cakes is increasing, which is also the time when dirty food production facilities seek to profit. Functional forces of Dai Loc commune (Da Nang) have seized thousands of banh u tro cakes mixed with "moltene" - a toxic chemical strictly prohibited in food processing.
On June 18, Dai Loc Commune Police (Da Nang City) said that the unit had just conducted a surprise inspection, discovered and made a record of a traditional cake production facility using banned substances in the area.

Through grasping the situation, the police force suddenly inspected the household of Ms. P.T. M (born in 1971, residing in Song My village, Dai Loc commune). Here, the working group caught this facility mixing "moltene" (alum) into sticky rice to produce "u tro" cakes for the purpose of increasing flexibility, chewiness and extending the preservation time of the cakes.
At the scene, functional agencies seized 3 nylon bags containing unused borax chemicals and 3,000 finished banh u tro cakes that had been wrapped and prepared to be released to the market. The police force made an administrative violation record and temporarily seized all exhibits to continue to handle them strictly according to the provisions of law.
