On May 26, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued an official dispatch requesting departments, branches and localities to strengthen the implementation of measures to prevent and control rabies in animals in the context of complicated epidemics.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, from 2025 to now, the whole country has recorded many deaths from rabies, with 77 cases in 2025 and 30 cases since the beginning of 2026.
In Lam Dong alone, there have been 13 cases of rabid dogs biting people and this locality is in the group of 12 provinces and cities at high risk of rabies.
To proactively control the epidemic, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead in coordinating with localities to strictly manage dogs and cats; promote vaccination; strengthen monitoring, detection and timely handling of emerging outbreaks.
Dog and cat owners must strictly comply with the declaration of pets, keeping them in the family premises, wearing muzzles and having someone lead them when taking pets to public places.
The Department of Health is assigned to ensure the full supply of rabies vaccines and anti-rabbit serums for people exposed.

At the same time, functional agencies will strictly handle cases of self-treating rabies with unrecognized methods such as traditional medicine or family remedies.
Along with that, the police, military and local authorities strengthen inspection and handling of acts of transporting, trading, and slaughtering dogs and cats of unknown origin or smuggling.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Chairman of the Commune-level People's Committee to be responsible if management is lax, allowing low vaccination rates or slow handling of outbreaks, increasing the risk of disease transmission to humans.
Functional sectors recommend that people when bitten or scratched by dogs or cats should quickly go to medical facilities for advice and timely vaccination.
