On September 3, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the province sets a target to build 160 smart villages by 2030, gradually bringing digital transformation to each residential community, promoting the application of technology in management, production, business and life.

According to the plan to deploy the construction of numbered villages and smart villages in the province in the period 2026 - 2030, Lao Cai will continue to complete the pilot models in village 6, Yen Binh commune and village 4, Bat Xat commune, and then gradually expand them.

In the period 2026 - 2027, 100% of communes and wards will review the current status according to the set of criteria and develop implementation plans.

Each commune and ward strives for over 30% of villages and residential groups to reach the basic village level.

The whole province selected 25 communes and wards to build at least 1 advanced village and 1 smart village.

In the period 2028 - 2030, the province sets a target of 100% of communes and wards having villages and residential groups meeting basic village standards; of which at least 20% reach advanced levels and 10% reach smart village standards.

According to the plan, by 2030, the whole province strives to have 551 basic villages, 320 advanced villages and 160 smart villages.

To make the implementation suitable to reality, localities will survey and assess the current situation before selecting locations; prioritize places with sufficient conditions, take advantage of infrastructure and equipment that have been invested and limit items that are at risk of becoming redundant public assets after arranging administrative units.

Resources for implementation are mobilized from the state budget, related programs and projects, and socialized sources.

The province encourages technology and telecommunications businesses and people to participate in investing and using digital services.

The construction of digital villages and smart villages aims to form the habit of applying technology in the community.

From there, promote non-cash payments, e-commerce and digital platforms serving production, business, learning, and life, contributing to narrowing the digital gap between regions.
