On April 24, the Military Party Committee of An Giang province organized a conference to summarize 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 984-NQ/QUTW dated December 28, 2016 of the Central Military Commission on leading to improve the quality and effectiveness of military history work to 2020 and the following years.
Over 10 years of implementation, the Party Committee, Provincial Military Command and Party committees and commanders of agencies and units have thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the Resolution; organized study and widespread propaganda in many forms. The awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members and the masses for military history work has been increasingly raised.
The work of researching and compiling military history has achieved many outstanding results. The provincial armed forces have completed many works and topics of scientific and practical value; typical examples are the historical works of the provincial armed forces in the period 1945 - 1975 and 1975 - 2025, along with many district-level and unit-level works. The whole province has compiled 29 works with a total budget of over 8 billion VND. The work of summarizing the war, summarizing military and local defense tasks is concerned, contributing to improving the quality of training and combat readiness.
In addition, the work of collecting, collecting, and managing historical documents has gradually become systematic; promoting the application of information technology, building databases for research. Coordination activities, propaganda and traditional education have been effectively implemented, contributing to fostering patriotism and national pride for officers, soldiers and people.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying the achieved results, frankly pointing out some limitations such as the progress and quality of some projects being uneven; the team of cadres working in military history is still lacking, mainly part-time; the application of technology and digital transformation has not met the requirements.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Colonel Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Commander cum Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, acknowledged and praised the results achieved in the past 10 years. The comrade emphasized that the implementation of Resolution 984 has made an important contribution to raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees and commanders at all levels; the quality of research and compilation of military history is increasingly improved, practically serving the tasks of training, combat readiness and tradition education.
At the same time, Colonel Nguyen Van Hien requested that in the coming time, Party committees and commanders of agencies and units continue to thoroughly grasp Resolution 984 and directing documents of superiors; improve the quality of research and compilation of military history to ensure scientific, objective, and on schedule. Pay attention to consolidating the organization, building a contingent of cadres working in military history with qualifications and capacity; promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation in archiving, managing and exploiting documents.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the work of summarizing practice, summarizing war associated with theoretical research; expand coordination with agencies, units, and localities in researching and propagating traditional education. The comrade believes that with high determination, the provincial armed forces will continue to effectively implement Resolution 984, contributing to building a comprehensively strong provincial armed forces, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
At the conference, the Provincial Military Command also commended 3 collectives and 7 individuals with good achievements in summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 984.
