Nghe An supports 1 billion VND for people in mountainous areas affected by storms

Nghe An - Tornadoes cause damage to many houses in 2 communes Quy Hop, Muong Ham, province supports 1 billion VND to overcome the consequences.

On May 5, a delegation from the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee visited, encouraged and provided support to households affected by storms in 2 communes of Quy Hop and Muong Ham.

According to reports from local authorities, in the early morning of May 4, strong thunderstorms occurred in 2 communes, causing great damage to houses. Many houses had their roofs blown off and were heavily damaged, directly affecting people's lives.

At the destinations, the working delegation directly visited and shared difficulties with affected families; and presented immediate support gifts to help people overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives soon.

Leaders of communes said that the locality is urgently mobilizing local forces to support people to repair and reinforce houses, and at the same time continue to review and statistically assess damage to propose appropriate support plans.

Speaking at the working session, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Standing Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee requested the Party Committee and local authorities to urgently inspect and fully statistically assess the extent of damage; mobilize forces to support people to repair houses. For households heavily damaged, it is necessary to arrange temporary accommodation, ensuring that people do not lack food or have no place to live.

On this occasion, the working delegation presented support from the Provincial Relief Fund to two communes Quy Hop and Muong Ham, each commune 500 million VND to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. At the same time, it requested localities to use the funds for the right purpose, prioritizing poor and near-poor households, and policy families.

In addition, localities are required to continue mobilizing socialized resources, strengthen propaganda, and guide people to proactively prevent and combat natural disasters to minimize damage in the coming time.
