On May 5, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that the unit had just issued Plan No. 328/KH-UBND on organizing activities to celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. The plan aims to continue to effectively implement preferential policies for people with meritorious services, and at the same time educate patriotism and revolutionary spirit for the young generation.
Accordingly, from May to July 2026, the locality will deploy a peak propaganda campaign with many forms of innovation, strengthening the application of digital platforms. The content focuses on affirming the historical significance of July 27th, commending typical people who have overcome difficulties and risen up in life.
Along with propaganda work, the province will launch the construction of the "Gratitude and Repayment" Fund in 2026 throughout the province from May to December, ensuring the principles of voluntariness, publicity, and transparency.
Many practical gratitude activities will be implemented. It is expected that at the end of May 2026, a delegation of 75 typical people with meritorious services will go to Hanoi to meet with Party and State leaders and visit the old battlefield. In July, the province will send a delegation to attend the National Conference of Gratitude to People with Meritorious Services and participate in the return of martyrs' memorabilia.
From July 1st to July 27th, 6 delegations of the province will organize visits to martyrs' cemeteries and relic sites inside and outside the province. In particular, at 8:00 PM on July 26th, the whole province will simultaneously organize a candle lighting ceremony in gratitude at martyrs' cemeteries.
The work of caring for the lives of people with meritorious services continues to be emphasized. The province coordinates to distribute gifts from the President to 77,666 people with meritorious services; and at the same time deducts budget to support 260 typical families and nursing and care facilities with a total budget of more than 676 million VND. In addition, 196 people with meritorious services who are not eligible for gifts from the President were also supported with nearly 59 million VND from the provincial budget.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province assigned the Department of Home Affairs to be the standing agency, presiding over advising and coordinating with departments, branches, and localities to implement the plan, ensuring that activities take place solemnly, practically, and effectively.
