Kon Tum Social Work Center school point, Quang Trung Primary School (Quang Ngai province) currently teaches 40 disabled students from western communes and wards. Here, the teachers not only teach literacy but also persistently care for and accompany them to gradually overcome difficulties.
All students are divided into 5 classes with 6 teachers, of which 5 teachers directly teach the class and one teacher is in charge of the subject. Each class is a separate circumstance, each student has a different type of disability, from hearing impairment, visual impairment to hyperactivity, intellectual disability or Down syndrome.
Attached to the school since 2014, Ms. Luong Thi Hong Phuong sees this place as her second home. Every day, she persistently holds hands with students to practice writing, coloring, guides each small skill and coordinates with parents in extracurricular care. According to her, teaching disabled children cannot apply a common method but must build separate records for each child, adjusting according to progress each month, according to VNA.
Most students see the teacher as their mother. Many times when they call me "mother", I am very touched. If I don't see them as children, it is difficult to stick with this job for a long time," Ms. Phuong shared.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly is currently in charge of a class with 9 students, corresponding to 9 different types of disabilities. Each student needs a unique approach, from communication to knowledge transfer. During class, she constantly moves between the students, both guiding and encouraging them.
Many times, when students "get angry", smashing things, she has to pause the lecture to reassure them. Hugs and gentle gestures become a way to help them stabilize their psychology. "I have never been angry. I just want to hug my children, because they have suffered many disadvantages," Ms. Ly said.

Thanks to the dedication of the teachers, many students have had clear changes. Baby D. N. H (Dak Bla ward) is completely visually impaired, and after more than a year of study, he can read Braille. The family said that their child's progress is thanks to the appropriate curriculum and close support from the teachers.
The case of baby N.P. T (Kon Tum ward) with hyperactivity pre-autism also has positive changes. After nearly a year, she learned to read and write basically, reduced running and jumping, and learned to listen to her teacher.
According to Mr. Lam Quoc Hung - Deputy Director of Kon Tum Social Work Center, there are currently 17 students studying at the school, distributed in 5 classes. They have clearly improved their awareness, self-service skills, communication skills and are more confident when integrating into the community.
Specialized classes help students improve life skills, create integration opportunities, aim for job prospects in the future, and reduce dependence on family," Mr. Hung said.
The positive changes of students are the result of the perseverance and love of the teachers. From this special class, many children have had more opportunities to overcome adversity and gradually move towards a better future.
