Recently, the People's Committee of An Bien district, Kien Giang province organized a contest to learn about the law on ethnic affairs in 2024, to celebrate the success of the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Kien Giang province.
This is a playground to help connect and raise legal awareness for the participating contestants. More than 150 contestants competed in 4 rounds such as greeting, multiple choice test, situational response, and propaganda skit.
According to the Organizing Committee of the competition, the teams brought a rich picture of legal knowledge associated with real life. The competition focused on areas such as Land Law, Marriage and Family Law, support policies for ethnic minority areas, and initiatives in the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development.
As a contestant, Mr. Le Minh Chua - Hung Yen commune unit said: "Through the contest, I understand more about the legal regulations on ethnic affairs of the Party and State, which greatly helps in the process of performing tasks, enhancing the role and responsibility. From the acquired knowledge, I am more motivated to learn more about the law in this field to be able to help ethnic minorities improve their lives. Contribute to reducing poor and near-poor households, promoting socio-economic development, raising the intellectual level of ethnic minorities".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem from Tay Yen A commune shared: “The area where I work is home to Cham ethnic people. The contest has helped the staff in the commune's professional department gain more knowledge about ethnic work, contributing to propaganda and mobilization, and handling practical situations more effectively.”
The highlight of this competition is the creativity in the skit performances. The teams cleverly incorporated real-life legal situations into the skits, making them easy for viewers to understand and access.
Everyday stories are vividly recreated, from resolving land disputes, protecting children’s rights, to enhancing the role of women in the family and society. The teams not only demonstrate their understanding of the law but also their understanding of national customs, practices and culture, creating intimacy and persuasion.
Mr. Danh Tha - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Kien Giang province highly appreciated the well-organized contest, the lessons learned should be noted to do better in the following contests.
Mr. Tha also affirmed: "The contest is not only an opportunity for ethnic minorities to access the law more easily, but also to raise awareness of the rule of law, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights of themselves and the community."
At the end of the competition, the Tay Yen A commune team won first prize. Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem, Tay Yen A commune unit, shared: The success of the competition lies not only in the prize but also in the spirit of learning, exchanging and raising legal awareness for the community.
“More importantly, the contest also shows that legal propaganda does not stop at dry documents but needs to apply creative, close propaganda methods that are suitable for local reality and culture,” said Ms. Diem.
Understanding and applying the law correctly not only protects the rights of each individual but also builds a united and sustainable ethnic minority community. The contestants will be active propagandists spreading the law, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of ethnic minorities in the new era.
