Attending the ceremony were many dignitaries of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Tay Ninh province such as Venerable Thich Thien Hue - Member of the Patronage Council, Patronage Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Tay Ninh province; Venerable Thich Minh Thien - Member of the Patronage Council, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Venerable Thich Quang Tam - Head of the Patronage Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Tay Ninh province and venerable monks and nuns inside and outside the province.
At the ceremony, Venerable Thich An Trung guided monks, nuns, and Buddhists to offer incense to commemorate the merits of the Patriarch in opening the mountains, perform the ritual of worshiping the Horse, and pray for national peace and prosperity, world peace, and peace for all living beings. Venerable monks and Buddhists also spent time reviewing the merits and karmic careers of the late Venerable Monk Chanh Tam for the development of Buddhism in the locality.
According to documents from the Kim Cang Ancestral Temple, Venerable Chanh Tam, Hai Luong surname, was born in 1836 in Thu Thua region. In 1860, he assumed the position of abbot of Phuoc Long Pagoda, now the Kim Cang Ancestral Temple. Throughout his monastic life, the Venerable made many contributions to the cause of propagating Buddhism and building a local pagoda. He passed away in 1906, at the age of 70.
Presiding at the ceremony, Venerable Thich Minh Thien acknowledged and praised the monks of Kim Cang Communal House for solemnly organizing the memorial ceremony for the founding ancestor. The Venerable emphasized that Kim Cang Communal House is one of the ancient temples with a long history in Tay Ninh province, for many years it has been a place to organize settlement, professional training courses for abbots and many important Buddhist activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province.
On this occasion, Venerable Thich Minh Thien also encouraged monks, nuns, and Buddhists to continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, preserve and promote the values of Kim Cang Ancestral Temple, actively participate in Buddhist activities, contributing to building the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to become increasingly developed.
