On June 4, in Zone B - Lang Le Cultural Park (Binh Loi commune), the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) of Ho Chi Minh City and local authorities organized a tree planting ceremony to respond to World Environment Day 2026.

The program is implemented to practically implement the emulation movement "All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green - clean - beautiful Vietnam", while raising awareness and responsibility of all classes of people, monks, nuns, and Buddhists in developing urban green space and responding to climate change.
At the tree planting ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, spoke, emphasizing the practical significance of planting trees, developing urban green space and spreading the environmental protection movement among all classes of people.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc affirmed that, in the face of the increasingly clear impacts of climate change and environmental degradation, the organization of the Action Month for the Environment and responding to World Environment Day is an opportunity for all levels, sectors, Front system, member organizations, religious organizations and the City People to join hands with specific and practical actions. This is also a meaningful activity to celebrate the 115th anniversary of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country and towards the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc also respectfully thanked the concern, companionship and responsible cooperation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City, and monks, nuns, and Buddhists in social security and environmental protection activities, especially in supporting and participating in planting and caring for green trees. This companionship continues to express the spirit of "Buddhism accompanies the nation", spreading human values, awareness of green living, living in harmony with nature in the community.

On this occasion, the Executive Board of GHPGVN HCMC presented a symbolic board supporting the entire cost of planting and caring for green trees, all resources are mobilized from socialized sources in Buddhism.
Local authorities also handed over the care and management of the green garden to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City (located in the area) will be the unit directly responsible for irrigation, care, ensuring that green trees develop sustainably after planting, contributing to maintaining the landscape for the "Great Unity Garden".

Besides environmental activities, the compassionate spirit of Buddhism and the tradition of great national unity were clearly expressed through social security activities right at the ceremony. The organizers distributed gifts to support 1 household in particularly difficult circumstances and awarded 20 scholarships along with meaningful gifts to poor and studious students in Binh Loi commune, helping them have more motivation to rise up in their studies.
Immediately after the ceremony, government leaders and Buddhist dignitaries, along with a large number of union members, association members, monks, nuns and people, simultaneously launched a campaign to implement the project at Zone B - Lang Le Cultural Park.
The activity has successfully replanted a total of 600 Giang Huong trees on an area of about 2 hectares.
