Tuyen Quang grows pineapple and citrus fruits to help farmers increase income

Converting crop structure, Son Duong commune (Tuyen Quang) has formed many effective models, increasing people's income and increasing value per hectare of land.

In order to effectively exploit land potential, Son Duong commune (Tuyen Quang) promotes crop restructuring, forming many production models that bring clear economic efficiency.

From ineffective farming areas, localities proactively choose suitable crops, organize production in a centralized direction associated with consumption linkages. Through this, people's production thinking gradually shifts to commodity direction, increasing value per unit area.

At the end of 2025, in Tu Thinh, Tan Phu, Tan Tien villages, many households who are members of the Farm Agricultural and Forestry Service and Trade Cooperative (HTX) have converted old tea areas to grow pineapple. The model is being implemented synchronously, linked with businesses to consume products, according to VNA.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Khoi, Director of the Cooperative, said that pineapple trees have an average yield of 45 - 60 tons/ha, and stable purchase prices. Income reaches 120 - 150 million VND/ha/year, much higher than previous crops, suitable for hilly land conditions.

Thanks to careful preparation of seeds, techniques and care procedures, pineapple trees grow well. To date, cooperative members have converted about 15ha, initially forming a concentrated production area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My (Tan Tien village) said that her family used to grow old, low-yield tea. After switching to growing pineapple, the plants developed well, and the family expects to increase income.

Besides pineapple, the model of growing four-fruit lemons is also chosen by many households. Mr. Pham Van Tuan's family (Tan Thinh village) has converted more than 4ha of tea and cassava to growing lemons since June 2025. The trees are developing well, initially giving harvests.

According to Mr. Tuan, four-fruit lemons are easy to care for, adapt well, and bear fruit all year round, so the income is more stable. In the same village, Mr. To Duc Phuong's family also converted 3 hectares of tea to growing lemons, hoping to form a concentrated raw material area to serve purchasing and processing.

Crop diversification helps reduce production risks, while creating conditions for the formation of a linkage chain between people, cooperatives and businesses.

Currently, Son Duong commune has more than 10 high-tech agricultural models such as growing vegetables in greenhouses, organic fruit trees, circulating aquaculture, biosafety livestock breeding... contributing to improving production efficiency.

Mr. Phung Viet Hung - Chairman of Son Duong Commune People's Committee - said that the locality orients agricultural development in the direction of selecting crops and livestock with high yield and value, suitable to actual conditions.

In the coming time, the commune will continue to mobilize people to convert crop structure, prioritizing types such as pineapple and citrus lemon; and at the same time support seeds, techniques, expand area, and form concentrated production areas associated with consumption linkages.

Along with that, the locality focuses on attracting businesses and cooperatives to participate in production linkages, promoting the application of science and technology, improving the quality of agricultural products, towards sustainable agricultural development and building new rural areas.
