According to information from Nghia Lo Ward People's Committee on March 30, a thunderstorm on the afternoon of March 29 suddenly swept through Nghia Lo ward (Lao Cai province), causing property damage and posing many potential safety risks for people.
In that dangerous time, the courageous action of Ms. Luong Thi Tinh (born 1979), an urban environmental worker, residing in Tong Phong residential group, moved many people.
According to witnesses, when the tornado hit the area in front of the Nghia Lo ward headquarters (old Nghia Lo Town Party Committee), an ancient tree branch suddenly broke and fell, directly threatening two students passing by.
Without hesitation, Ms. Tinh rushed to pull the students out of the dangerous area. The two students luckily escaped, but she did not have time to avoid them, was hit by a fallen branch and collapsed on the spot.
Immediately after that, people and functional forces urgently took her to the emergency room at Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital No. 3. Due to severe injuries, she was transferred overnight to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for further treatment.
According to the family, Ms. Tinh suffered multiple injuries, including a ruptured segment of the colon, pelvic fracture and serious damage to many internal organs. Currently, the patient is in a deep coma, in critical condition and needs to be monitored and actively intervened.
Not only making many people admire her courageous actions, Ms. Tinh's situation also makes public opinion heartbroken.
As a single mother, she raises two young children alone, life depends on the salary of an environmental worker, which is still difficult. The unexpected accident caused the family to struggle when they had to worry about large treatment costs and lacked their main breadwinner.
Faced with that situation, the Nghia Lo ward government organized visits and encouragement, and at the same time called for initial support resources, coordinating with relevant units to create the best conditions for her treatment.
Ms. Luong Thi Tinh's selfless action to save people is clear evidence of courage and compassion in everyday life. In a moment of life and death, she chose to protect others, regardless of danger to herself.
