The 2nd Thang Long - Hanoi Festival in 2026 is organized to honor the cultural and historical values of the Capital.

Hanoi City People's Committee has just issued Plan No. 173/KH-UBND dated April 28, 2026 on organizing the "Thang Long - Hanoi Festival II, 2026".

According to the plan, the Festival is an activity to honor and widely promote the historical and cultural values of Thang Long - Hanoi, contributing to affirming the position of the thousand-year-old Capital - a place of convergence, crystallization of identity and spreading creativity; gradually promoting the role of a major cultural center and driving force for the development of cultural industries.

At the same time, this is a practical step to realize the goals and targets of Action Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture and Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW on building and developing Hanoi Capital in the new era.

The festival also aims to widely introduce to domestic people and international friends the typical and unique values of Hanoi's tangible and intangible cultural heritage; strengthen domestic and international cultural exchanges, create a space for meetings and exchanges between localities, countries, and cultural and artistic organizations; promote cooperation, creativity, and the formation of new valuable products, contributing to the development of the cultural industrial ecosystem of the Capital.

Along with that, the event contributes to stimulating tourism demand, promoting socio-economic development, forming unique cultural, artistic and festival products bearing the Hanoi brand; and at the same time building and positioning the international Hanoi brand with the image of "Culture - identity - creativity - integration".

The festival with the theme "Heritage flow" will take place on September 11, 2026 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The event is organized by the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City; the Department of Culture and Sports is the unit in charge of implementation. The program includes many outstanding activities such as: opening ceremony of Thang Long - Hanoi Festival II in 2026; youth music art; art exchange; fashion night "Hanoi Colors - The color of Hanoi"; art performance "Sound of Pottery".

Besides, there are supporting activities such as exhibitions, displays, heritage connection experiences, art performances; introducing the quintessence of craft villages and intangible culture; the play "Thang Long Ngu Yen".

The city also requires building a multi-layered communication campaign, ensuring a harmonious combination between the thousand-year-old cultural values and the contemporary creative spirit. Through the Vietnamese-English bilingual message system, the Festival contributes to telling the story of the Capital "Culture - Identity - Creativity - Integration", thereby honoring historical and cultural values and affirming Hanoi's position in the region and internationally.
