Exhibition recreates the origin of national culture in the heart of Hanoi

Hanoi - The exhibition at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology introduces many valuable documents and artifacts about the history, culture and origins of the Vietnamese nation.

From April 11 to May 15, 2026, the exhibition "Vietnam Museum of Ethnology: Space for cultural preservation and spreading social science knowledge" takes place at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

This is the opening activity of a series of events introducing outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), Vietnam Science and Technology Day, International Museum Day; and at the same time responding to the spirit of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. The exhibition at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology introduces many valuable documents and artifacts about the history, culture and origins of the Vietnamese nation.

The exhibition introduces typical research works, with theoretical and practical value, contributing to clarifying issues of history, culture, people and society of Vietnam. At the same time, the research results also show the role of social science in providing arguments to serve the planning of the Party and State's guidelines and policies, promoting socio-economic development and international integration.

The highlight of the exhibition is archaeological and historical discoveries related to the formation and development of the history - culture of the Vietnamese nation's origin. Artifacts and documents from the Prehistoric period, Post-Old Stone Period to the Pre-Dong Son - Dong Son, Pre-Sa Huynh - Sa Huynh, Pre-Dong Nai - Dong Nai periods have provided more evidence of the existence of the Hung Kings era in history. These research results contribute to affirming the position of the Hung Kings period in Vietnamese official history.

In addition, excavation results at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ho Citadel, Lam Kinh or Dong Trieu - Yen Tu also show the persistent vitality and brilliant development of Dai Viet culture through many historical periods.

Within the framework of activities, the exhibition also introduces many valuable documents of ethnologist Tu Chi such as sketches of Cua Sot, Cua Nhuong diagrams, manuscripts of "Muong sketches", field notes in Hoa Binh, along with many images, cameras, and cameras serving field research of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

In particular, the exhibition introduces two new costumes of the Chut ethnic group built from the scientific task "Researching and proposing costume designs of the Chut ethnic group in Quang Binh province" implemented in 2024. The researchers conducted field trips, interviewed the Chut community, consulted people's opinions to design two sets of community life costumes for men and women, receiving the consensus of people and local authorities.

In addition to contents on history and ethnology, the exhibition also introduces research results in the fields of philosophy, economics, state and law. These works have contributed to providing scientific arguments for policy making, developing a socialist-oriented market economy and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam.
